"The Avengers" Grosses $616 Million Domestically, Is That Just a Coincidence?

"The Avengers" Grosses $616 Million Domestically, Is That Just a Coincidence?Submit Comment
"The Avengers" is set to hit stores on DVD and Blu-ray on September 25th, which means that it's theatrical release is coming to an end. According to Forbes magazine, the film will end up with $1.5 billion globally, only behind "Titanic" and "Avatar."

Domestically, the film has now grossed $615.28 million and will end up with $616 million. That's a bit of a coincidence and an unintended Easter Egg for comic book fans who know that Earth 616 is Marvel's designation for the universe in which most of Marvel's comic books take place.

For those who have never heard of Earth 616, it has all the features of our reality, including same countries, same people, same historical events, and so on. But it also has such countries like Wakanda and organizations like SHIELD and HYDRA.

This was definately for all the geeks out there.
I had no idea the Marvel universe existed on a Earth 616.

Add another 50 million then everyone will call it devil worshipping. I'm sure Marvel's creative team of accountants will make sure those numbers never get out.

Don't worry, it's gonna end up with more than 616 M, so no reason for speculation...

Wow a rare Alex comment. That's like a big foot sighting.

Yeah but Bigfoot doesn't delete your posts or publish rubbish news.

Anyway, this is the dumbest article, anywhere, anytime. So what happens when Avengers crosses the 617 mark? Or the 632? What, no significance for every number from 1 to 615, and from 617 and up?

Respect Alex, i knew about Earth 616 but would have never put this together ha

OK, you caught us. Every single person who saw the movie agreed that this must be the final revenue number....OMG of course it's a f*cking coincidence.

I'd rather hear that fat Jason on WP's FB page was hit and killed by a bus.

And no, not because he's black (like he'd like to think - and I use 'think' as a relative term when referring to Tons o' Fun!), but because he's a c*nt.
