Wow - Mad Men is finally getting some recognition in the acting categories.

Personally, I'd give this year to Breaking Bad's fourth season.

American Horror Story managed to get itself recognized as a mini-series? What a cheeky strategy.

I don't watch television, so this is all Geek to me.

@Mink

You're really missing out. Dramatic television is so much stronger now than it was in the past, and this decade it may have even proved consistently stronger than film.

I suppose the benefit of television is that it has more time to spend fleshing out its ideas, its story, and its characters.

It also doesn't hurt that nowadays television series can look like films, and serialized storytelling is currently at its most popular.

Oh, I agree, television is definitely a hell of a lot better, cinematic even, but mostly on HBO and Showtime.

The networks still largely suck and they haven't grown, because of FCC regulations, since the late 70s. I think only FOX is pushing the boundaries of network tv, and I wonder if they get away with it because they're not part of the Big Three.

I've been meaning to catch Breaking Bad, I know that much. Cranston is pretty awesome.

I've only watched a handful of shows this year at most.

Wow a lot of categories!!!!!! But the one that surprise me is American Horror Story in a Mini Series or Movie Caegory? Really WTF!!!!!!
Freudian_Nightmare writes:

American Horror Story shouldn't be nominated. Period. It started out promising, but man, what a letdown it became.

I haven't seen Modern Family, so it might be quite funny and good. However, even if it is that funny, I don't think it deserves to eat up all acting categories. There are more comedies out there who deserves some recognition.
Džeko writes:

Some of these categories are just plain retarded,anyways,Sherlock and Homeland are my favorites.
Bullit writes:

Don Cheadle - House Of Lies. Best actor already in a great comedy series. Mad Men too great show.
Brody writes:

how long does award show last? there's like 200 categories!
GAME OF THRONES should have been nominated more. Comedy shows with a laugh track should be cancelled immediately.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
* Steve Buscemi - Boardwalk Empire
* Bryan Cranston - Breaking Bad
* Michael C. Hall - Dexter
* Hugh Bonneville - Downton Abbey
* Damian Lewis - Homeland
* Jon Hamm - Mad Men

As long as they keep making these shows these guys will be nominated every year.

American Horror Story is not a miniseries!!!
They're making season 2 for f*ck's sake.
