A while back, Kevin Tancharoen felt it was time for another "Mortal Kombat" film. He put together a short video of what a potential movie could look like and caught the attention of Warner Bros. The studio gave him an opportunity to prove himself by developing a "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" webseries. Apparently it was a big success, because Warners is now working on a "Mortal Kombat" movie and has greenlit a second season of "Legacy."
Tancharoen appears in the announcement video, stating: "It's going to be about the actual Mortal Kombat tournament this time. I know a lot of people were expressing their opinion on wanting to see more fighting, more action, more visual effects. So we really took that to heart. And this season is completely about the tournament."
He went on to reveal that the following characters will make an appearance in the second season: Kano, Liu Kang, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Jax, Baraka, Stryker, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Ermac, Kenshi.
Of all the video game series to get mass attention, why Mortal Kombat? A story? About a tournament? Please. Super Mario has the classical hero versus the dragon to save the princess story. Zelda? Story all over that. Metroid? Hell, Halo. And yet, f*cking Mortal Kombat; not even Soul Caliber with it's better graphics and more imaginative settings and opponents, gets even half this attention.
My theory? The violence. People just love excessive violence. The Romans did too and look at their historical depravity. I guess a video game where fighting is reduced to ripping out your opponents spine to cheers of 'Finish Him!" is just going to work with more people than an Italian plumper semi-politely popping turtle ducks.
Whatever. I was obviously born on the wrong planet.
Half assed story with half assed fighting choreography with half assed acting and half assed directing. This 'Glee' 'director' should receive a Mortal Kombat fatality. He has no actual talent so from a business standpoint he knew people would lick his balls if he filmed some cow sh*t and slapped the Mortal Kombat brand on it. People were desperate so they were always going to love this sh*t no matter how badly it was made.
they should make a mortal kombat 5 live-action style game like the old ones they used to make...the technology has improved by far over the years, they could even use the stars of the web series...just saying the makers of the games really need to give 3d animation a rest for a change and revert to old style not just for kicks but to prove they haven't lost their touch...i've been imagining and waiting for years
