Ed Helms is Rusty Griswold in "Vacation" Reboot

Ed Helms is Rusty Griswold in "Vacation" RebootSubmit Comment
Ed Helms (The Hangover, "The Office") is in final negotiations with New Line Cinema to star in the upcoming "Vacation" reboot. If cast, he'll play Rusty Griswold, the kid from the original films.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein ("Horrible Bosses" writers) are directing the project, which plays like both a sequel and a reboot of the Chevy Chase franchise that began with the 1983 comedy "National Lampoon's Vacation," which starred Anthony Michael Hall as Rusty.

The new movie will focus on a grown-up Rusty Griswold who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are expected to return as the grandparents. "Vacation" will start shooting in the spring.

No way this creep will fill Chevy Chase's shoes.

Sounds great! Horrible Bosses was a funny movie, and if the writers of that movie are writing the Vacation reboot then I have high hopes! Ed Helms is a wonderful, talent, funny actor who will fit the role of Rusty Griswold great.

This has potential still, it is sad that Hollywood writers are forced to reboot old scripts for a paycheck these days. No original thoughts at all. Just sad.

and yes i agree Horrible Bosses was really surprising.and even made a good character out of Colin Failure.

I too enjoyed Horrible Bosses, just a tad on the unnecessarily vulgar side to be great, though.

the original Vacation movie is one of the funniest comedies of all time, if you haven't seen it in a while I recommend you go back and watch it, and not the edited for tv version but the original, it is soooo hilarious watching clark freak out and curse and when he goes to the hotel bar, nooo way they can recreate that with ed helms.

f*ck Ed Helms. His career was basically built on bricks of sh*t. Meet Dave, The Hangover, etc.

Why not just get hall??? He is a decent actor and has shown skill in comedic roles(vacation, weird science, sixteen candles, movie about celeb learning how to be a combat jet pilot for a role but cant remember name of movie) and more recently has shown he can do drama. Plus you know....he is rusty and all. Plus he would proly come cheaper than helms as well. I mean anyone who would pay to see this movie would see chase and beverly in the trailer(hopefully quaid as well aka the best part) and be sold on that. The way i see it if chase and bev are there it will bring back the fans and if they are not i see this reboot/sequel flame out within the first week. So why not just have the original rusty back??? Bring back the entire original cast and market it like american reunion was. As an anniversary/reunion movie and take that nostalgia and sell it sell it sell it. All im saying is show me some funny moments and one liners to show off the new story and end the trailer with a trademark "touching moment" between eddie and clark and a parenting advice moment with rusty and clark and im sold

I always caught the original Vacation randomly on tv when I was younger. It wasn't until I bought the dvd that I saw the shower scene with Beverly D'Angelo showing her tits, which were actually pretty nice ones.

I'm not a big fan as well of the original...not that Laugh out loud funny

Everybody remembers that Anthony Michael Hall did NOT play Rusty in every movie, right? The actor kept changing, so why not change him again?
