Producer Says "The Amazing Spider-Man" is a TrilogySubmit Comment
"The Amazing Spider-Man" was released on July 3rd and went on to get the biggest Tuesday opening of all time with slightly over $35 million. And now, we have the Wednesday, July 4th results.

The film has grossed an additional $23.4 million for a new domestic total of $59.2 million. That the second-highest daily gross for a movie playing on July 4th. Michael Bay's "Transformers" still holds the record with $29.1 million. Sony now believes "The Amazing Spider-Man" will end up grossing $120 to $130 million by the end of the weekend.

Meanwhile, producer Matt Tolmach revealed that the sequel is already being written. "We knew that it was going to be more than one [installment], and at the very least three," he explained. "We're going to let this movie tell us what the story is."

According to the official Facebook page for the movie, the trilogy "will explore how our favorite hero's journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents." The sequel will hit theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

"was shaped by the disappearance of his parents."

Oh snap. That means they'll come back and play some part in the sequels. Perhaps as SHIELD agents, or villains. Or even worse, as Democrats.

Yeah let's get this over with as soon as possible.

Yeah... After watching the movie, I found maybe ONE scene that was somewhat similar to something out of twilight, and even that is a stretch.

How about using Venom he's a fan favourite and he's not been used before, Yes I have seen spider-man 3 and that is not venom! Who ever suggested gopher grace should be shot and frankly when Sam raimi dies he should spend eternity having to watch spider-man 3 on repeat!

Off topic here but I watched the dark knight again earlier today and was wondering does anyone else find the switching to and from IMAX distracting? After about 1000 viewings I still hate the cgi for two face and think Aaron Eckhart has to be one of the worst casting decisions ever and I've seen spider-man 3!

I agrees. Minkowski is smells very bad. He post stoopid topic. I hoped him fell off of building.

Topic:
Of course Spidey will put out a trilogy. Superhero films have become like Lays potato chips.....

mmmm chips
EarOne writes:

it shows a good start, but webb's still gotta learn his trades in staging fight scenes. Raimi beats him by a million mile. the spidey-lizard fights remind me of nolan's bat fight scenes in Batman Begins. they're unclear and just not good.

i do have to admit though the peter-gwen's scenes are just as great as expected from the director of 500 days of summer.

bottom line, if this is gonna be a trilogy, it shows promise for good things to come..hopefully, even better things.

And then a few years after Amazing Spidey 3, they'll reboot it.

Ultimate Spiderman (which will be part of a trilogy) - coming June 2021
KillerCOck writes:

The Fight scenes were awesome. Webb just needs to learn to shoot em better.

I wonder if sony will keep Webb for the next 2 films.
