Alex Kurtzman on "Van Helsing" Reboot

Alex Kurtzman on "Van Helsing" RebootSubmit Comment
We already know that Universal Pictures is planning another "Van Helsing" film, which will star Tom Cruise, who will also produce alongside Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (writers of "Star Trek" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen").

CraveOnline caught up with Kurtzman, who spoke about the new movie, which will be a complete reboot. "We are actually at the very beginning of talking about what to do with it," he explained. "But I do feel like the Van Helsing that Anthony Hopkins plays in [Bram Stoker's] 'Dracula' is sort of the parody version of it, and the Van Helsing that Hugh Jackman played was obviously in a different place as well."

He continued: "I think that these kinds of movies have evolved a lot since then. 'The Dark Knight' was a major, major corner-turning moment in the way that genre and superhero stories could be told. Really grounded in reality. That's what I'd like to do without sacrificing the fantasy element."

Kurtzman added that the whole "grounded in reality" approach will also be used for "The Mummy" reboot.

Youll never be worthy enough to write for Anthony Hopkins

Theres no spaceships or robots to hide behind in this movie which will make the sh*tty writing stand out more than the Kardashians at a Mensa meeting

I wonder if he realizes that the Van Helsing from Bram Stoker's Dracula exists because it's actually a book, and the actual origin of the character of Dracula.

Peter Cushing is by far the best Van Helsing IMO.

In Horror Of Draucla and Brides of Dracula especially

You can blame all this garbage on Nolan and The f*cking Dark Knight. Goddamned sh*tty incoherent hyper-hyped movie is going to ruin everything that even smells of non-realism. Can't wait for the 'realistic' Superman movie. He doesn't fly, and has no heat or X-Ray vision. He wears a turtleneck and beats up purse-snatchers, using only a mean stare.

Thanks Nolan. And thanks Kurtzman, you f*cking faggot-ass lousy sh*t-writing faggot-f*cking homo. Now go f*ck your lover Orci, you robot-writing, Star-Trek wrecking piece of f*cking sh*t.

Whew.

Well if Jack Black is going to play as Van Helsing I will consider maybe watch it while I sleep...

p.s. DO NOT REEBOOT MOVIES THAT DON'T WORK...
minkowski writes:

They should reboot only the ones that do work? Isn't that what happened with Spiderman, to which most of you bitched and whined?

Wtf do vampires have to do with the 'Dark Knight'? Goddamn hack incompetent so called writers make no f*cking sense. I thought these lazy f*cks were done using that movie as a crutch but apparently not. A sure sign you've already failed when you have to name other franchises to get people interested in your sh*t.

Jackman was in fine form in VAN HELSING and the movie (except that bat-babies, green gook crap plot device) was the perfect camp-popcorn movie....but Stephen Summer (student of the Steven Johnson OTT hit-or-miss school of action movies) was in over his head in the lame plot/screenplay department.

If they want Cruise, they should really get him some stilts or a stepper cause he's got big shoes and a long overcoat to fill...I'm a Cruise fan, but that guy is really a short fry.
