"Drive" Helmer to Direct "Barbarella" TV Series

"Drive" Helmer to Direct "Barbarella" TV SeriesSubmit Comment
A remake of the 1968 sci-fi film "Barbarella" has been in the works for years, with Robert Rodriguez and Robert Luketic stepping in at different time to direct the new movie. But both projects eventually fell apart.

Now comes word that Gaumont International Television, which is developing the new "Hannibal" TV series, is working on another TV show that will be based on "Barbarella." Martha De Laurentiis is on board to produce and so is "Drive" helmer Nicolas Winding Refn, who will also direct. Martha is the daughter of Dino De Laurentiis, who produced the original film.

In a statement, Refn said "Barbarella" is "one of the ultimate counter-cultural characters." No word on who will play the title character.

This movie and Barefoot in Central Park had me pokin holes in all moms Jane Fonda Workout tape covers

Dont care till they say who the actress is

Maybe his daughter: TV Cook Giada can play her but her smile is as big as her forehead but her forehead is as big as her boobs so it worksout

To this day I'd still eat Jane Fonda down to a brush-cut.

Barbarella is a bad movie the reached cult classic status (like a LOT of bad movies actually). Good as a stand-alone movie ('68), but I can't see this flying as a TV series.

Keep digging Hollywood... the real sh*t is at the bottom, you idea-less leeches!

Whoa, that's quite surprising. Winding-Refn is a little too dark and serious for Barbarella.

A new Dallas is running on Bravo now pornfly. And as much as I really, REALLY dislike remakes... it's not only a continuation with a few of the major cast members... but I'm liking it so far (not the cheesy acting, and slightly predictable plots... but it's great seeing JR in action again).

I know,i havent had cable for a few years and would love to watch the new Dallas,i've even seen the TV movies

But the time is ripe for a Misfits of Science come back
Remember Mr.Smith on NBC their was alot of weird shows in the 80s

@Ranger - I haven't checked out the new Dallas. But do remember the original when these aired back late 70's - 80's. Recall spankin it to smokin hot babes like Victoria Principal, Priscilla Presley, Audrey Landers and Deborah Shelton. Nice to see Jordana Brewster in the updated line up - FRESH MEAT FRESH MEAT! Hopefully if someone decides to shoot JR, he will really stay dead this time.

It would be weird to create Barbarella as a TV series. The original was campy for its time and contained so much space sex fetishes like the whole organ pleasure sequence and slow motion stripping. Agree with others it depends on who they cast and where they want to take these adventures and how far can they push television boundaries (to up the sex content). If its Lohan, they should go f*ck themselves.
