George Lucas has announced that he is retiring from LucasFilm in order to focus on low-budget movies that he'll develop on his own. "I've always wanted to make movies that were more experimental in nature, and not have to worry about them showing in movie theatres," he said.
Even though Lucas is leaving all his famous franchises behind, Marvel wants him to bless a 25th anniversary Blu-ray release of one of his lesser-known films, the 1986 sci-fi comedy "Howard the Duck," which Lucas produced.
In a new video (watch below), Joe Quesada, the COO of Marvel Entertainment Joe Quesada, asks Lucas to approve the release. There's currently no word if Lucas is interested in re-visiting the movie, but with enough fan-support anything is possible.
First let me say lea thompson was a hot piece of tail back then and shes still very doable, she was just in j. Edgar and i would pounce on that ass in a second. Ehem...now that is out of the way.... Howard the duck is a classic. Its soo bad its good. It had its moments. Im a fan and while i would not buy it at its intial release price i would definitely pick it up after a few months when its on sale at target. If only to see thompsons hot ass in pantiea again.....in HD.
Better title, of course, but it just boggles my mind why ANYONE would think Lea Thompson's ass in thin panties would be 'disturbing'. I'd expect that from The_Zizzler, but not from any red-blooded male still carrying two testicles.
"I've always wanted to make movies that were more experimental in nature, and not have to worry about them showing in movie theatres."
Typical auteur arrogance. Coming from a 19-year old film student, this wouldn't surprise me, but coming from a old billionaire, this is not only a totally disingenuous but insane. Cinema is a medium of communication- it's utterly pointless to make a movie unless it gets seen by other people (eg. "shown in theatres").
Okay, Howard Hugh- er, George Lucas, run along and play with your fancy little toys by yourself...
@Mustard - there are other venues to show a movie other than the typical movie theatre. How about an art gallery, on large outdoor screens in public town squares, subway monitors, youtube, internet sites etc. Lucas may be considering these other mediums. Or else he may be considering making low-budget movies to play in his basement homestudio so he can play with himself...I mean his toys.
@mr. Blonde and @mink
Who ever decided that thompsons ass in panties is in any way disturbing should die a horrible death immediately. Something like chinese water torture....but instead of constant drops of water on your face it should be lohans yeast infected vag smacking u in the face repeatadly
George Lucas probably would sign off on HOWARD THE DUCK...for about 10-20 million (just for his signature) give or take the back end of 50% of the disk profits, because as we all have been repeatedly reminded of what a galactically sized money-grabbing *sshole he is...
But what Lucas decided to do, F. F. Coppola has already been doing (latest ones are TETRO, TWIXT)...but would probably not to Lucas' scale...think about it, he's go ILM SFX, THX sound system, & Skywalker ranch for his editing/ mixing/ ADR.
He'd be able hire any actor/ crew he wants just to film movies that will he will likely make, see at his house, and sh!t, even maybe make his own Bluray title of the ones he likes to play in at his home in the theatre portion of his home...which would be great for any director, but now Lucas has a problem: where is he going to get the talent to make all those "experimental" (read: half-assed, noone-will-judge-for-the-flaming-hot-sh!t-it-is) movies?
So to summerize...ahem...f*ck that arrogant, egotistical, ungrateful, moneygrabbing, lazy hack up his soulless- franchise-loving ass by the long, thick, hard fanboy d*ck (with a sandpaper condom)!!
