Richard Dawson and Kathryn Joosten Have Died

Richard Dawson and Kathryn Joosten Have DiedSubmit Comment
Richard Dawson, the actor and Emmy-winning host of "Family Feud," died Saturday night from complications related to esophageal cancer at Ronald Reagan UCLS Medical Center. He was 79 years old.

Dawson played Peter Newkirk on the classic CBS sitcom "Hogan's Heroes" from 1865 to 1971, and starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 action film "The Running Man." Dawson was so popular that NBC considered him as a replacement for Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show" when the host was considering retirement. Dawson took over "Tonight" for a week and the show saw a ratings bump, but Carson decided not to retire.

We are also sad to report that Kathryn Joosten, an actress best known for playing Karen McCluskey on "Desperate Housewives" and the President's secretary on "The West Wing," has passed away. She was 72 years old.

Joosten, who had battled lung cancer for years, died Saturday in Los Angeles. The actress also had roles in a number of other popular shows, including "Dharma and Greg," "Ally McBeal" and "Scrubs."

I haven't been conceive when Dawson have that show, but I immediately identify him as the host of The Running Man, cool movie. In case of Joosten haven't recognize her in Ally or Dharma and I also didn't watch the Desperates. However for both of them I can only say, I feel sorry how they passed away with this tragic disease. May there soul Rest In Peace. Vayan con Dios!!!!!

1865-1971

Now THAT is what I call a successful TV show. The Simpsons got nothing on Hogan's Heroes.

Hogan's Heroes was hysterical.

And Kathryn on The West Wing was amazing like everyone else on that show.

RIP to both.

Do you know WHY they call it news, Alex? Because it is NEW, as in, no one has heard it yet, but when you post the 'news' days after it has happened, it's not really 'news' anymore, is it?

You could call your articles 'olds' instead.

Sad thing is Joosten's last role on Desperate Housewives died in the last episode from cancer.

Leo McGary on The West Wing played a guy that had a heart attack... until the actor did (and died from it) in real life.

Some actor's take their sh*t pretty seriously.
