New Photos of Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in "Les Miserables"Submit Comment
Thanks to USA Today, we have new official photos from the upcoming big screen adaptation of "Les Miserables," starring Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert and Anne Hathaway as Fantine. Check out all the photos below.

In the new movie, Jean (Jackman) is a poor man who has been on the run from the law for nineteen years after he stole bread to feed his sister's starving children during an economic depression in France. Jean is actively pursued by police officer Javert (Crowe).

"Les Miserables" is directed by Academy Award-winning helmer Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and co-stars Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. It is set to hit theaters on December 15th.

I know most young people will shrug this off as some old, funky English class homework, but in truth Les Misťrables is a quite the period drama masterwork with two of the more compelling lead characters in the history of literature. Not sure about Jackman (he can go either way) but Crowe has been nicely cast in the role of Inspector Javert; his screen presence will do the character justice.

Director Tom Hooper is kinda boring though -- didnít care much for The Kingís Speech.

@Cannon - agreed. Recall seeing Les Mis stage play twice - very powerful performances. I wonder if they plan to still make this a musical (as Jackman can hold a note - that dude is very versatile). What are your thoughts on the 1998 Les Mis version with Liam Neeson as Valjean and Geoffrey Rush as Javert.

@ Blonde

It is going to be a gay musical. There was an article before about how everyone was blown away by Hathaway's singing.

@LastActionHero - thanks.

If Hathaway sang to me, I would also blow my load.

Why don't they stick to the bloody book and make a masterpiece eh? Especially with a casting like this one. Cat woman as Fantine?! The bitch is supposed to be toothless and I can't imagine how they're gonna do a trick to hide her horse teeth!!!

Let the musical for Broadway, London or Paris. But no, they have to f*ck around with it. And Russel Crowe will sing as well? I bloody hope not.

As they say in Ireland: the one who came up with that idea should be shot!

Oh, wait ...I didn't realize they were making the musical version. Ugh, sadness.
