Channing Tatum May Star in "White House Down" Action Thriller, from "2012" DirectorSubmit Comment
Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street) is in negotiations to star in "White House Down" action thriller, to be directed by Roland Emmerich (2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day).

Plot details are being kept a secret, but sources say the film will focus on a single dad/Secret Service agent (Tatum) who must save the President with limited resources against impossible odds and extraordinary obstacles when a paramilitary group takes over the White House.

Columbia Pictures paid $3 million for the script by James Vanderbilt (Total Recall, The Amazing Spider-Man) back in March. The plan now is to go into production this summer.

Don't you f*cking love how Hollywood rewards unoriginality? I'm pretty sure anyone here could think of a similar plot in less than 30 seconds.

The President should just die in the movie.

And then no more President movies till Air Force Two (:P) or Independence Day 2..
Only Presidents I've ever liked.

I don't have "Good Vibrations" about this.... Dear Rolly, does this include destroying again New York like your other movies and haven't we seen this similar situation on the last seasons of 24..... Oh gosh, just simply f*ck it, this lack of original ideas. Burn Holllywood burn, sooner not later, cause we are tired of your uncreativity!!!!!!

"$3 million for the script"!?!?

James Elroy got paid $1mil for L.A. Confidential and now we get this limited plot/story? Go figure...
