Disney is planning to air its upcoming "Tron: Uprising" animated television series, voiced by Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens and Bruce Boxleitner, on Thursday, June 7th (9pm) on Disney XD.
To get fans ready for the new show, Disney will present "Tron: Uprising, Beck's Beginning," a 30-minute prelude to the series on Friday, May 18th (9:30pm-10pm, ET/PT). But the network has now released it online. Check it out below.
The series follows Beck (Wood), a young mechanic living in Argon City, a growing metropolis in a far off corner of the grid that has just been occupied by General Tesler (Henriksen), a henchman of the notorious Clu (Fred Tatasciore). After his best friend Bodhi is ruthlessly derezzed by Clu's army, Beck seeks justice for his lost friend and launches a crusade against the regime. His rebellion captures the attention of Tron (Boxleitner), the greatest warrior The Grid has ever known, who sees the potential in Beck and trains him to be his successor. Labeled with the moniker of The Renegade, Beck sparks a revolution to fight for the freedom of The Grid.
The first film was fine for what it was, a showcase of then start-of-art effects for people mesmerized by the latest magical thingie, you know, the computer, but computers aren't magical anymore. They're about as mystical as f*cking bubblegum, so Disney needs to stop shoving this sh*t down the throats of people who just don't, won't, can't believe living people ride around on neon motorbikes inside their iPads.
