"Transformers" Writers Hired for "The Amazing Spider-Man" SequelSubmit Comment
Even though "The Amazing Spider-Man" won't hit theaters until July 3rd, Sony Pictures has just announced that it is moving forward with the sequel and has hired Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Transformers, Star Trek) to write the script.

"We grew up as huge Spider-Man fans so, to us, the opportunity to work on this film is akin to being handed the Holy Grail," said Kurtzman and Orci. "We love the direction Sony and the filmmakers are taking the Peter Parker/Spider-Man mythology and we couldn't be more excited to be a part of this legendary franchise."

Producer Matt Tolmach added: "Alex and Bob have a unique ability to write great character and spectacular action that makes them pitch perfect for Spider-Man. They've been friends of ours for a long time and they have an exciting take on the franchise."

Production on the sequel is tentatively scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2013 and is set to hit theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

@bando

As much as I agree, the movie will most likely do well enough to warrant a sequel.

Oh god, not these two imbeciles screenwriters...they'll have Spiderman pissing on some general, Spidey won't talk and Megan Fox will be Peter's new love interest.

Will Spider-Man get to have two cute dogs that hump each other in between action set pieces? (Transformer 2)

So then by Spiderman 3, there'll be some random recast love interest for Spidey and all memories of MJ and Gwen are to be conveniently forgotten?

The only film these two goofs ever did right is, was, Mission Impossible 3. Every other film is silly trash, even Star Trek once you look past the action set pieces and the overwhelming CGI.
