Ti West Signs on for "Bedbugs" Horror FilmPosted: April 11th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
  Ti West, the director of such horror films as "The Innkeepers" and "The House of the Devil," is set to write the script for "Bedbugs," based on a best-selling novel by Ben H Winters.
The story is set in Brooklyn and follows the Wendt family as they move in to a new home and suddenly start to encounter strange occurrences. Susan Wendt begins suffering what she suspects are bedbug bites, but she's the only one getting bitten and fears she may be going crazy. That's until she's confronted with a more menacing explanation for the strange things happening to her and the family.
"Reading 'Bedbugs' as a manuscript felt like the literary equivalent of a Ti West horror movie — a slow-burning supernatural story with fully realized characters, light on gore but heavy on menace and dread," said the publisher.
No word if West will direct, but he likely will.

@Pornfly - LOL.
Bedbugs...let me guess the caption...just when you thought your bed was safe...
Susan Wendt played by Lohan who opens her legs to unleash the bedbugs. Or maybe that should be saved for the next critter movie called...Crabs.

That was my first thought too, though I suspect Bedbugs will be more horror and less psycho-social drama/thriller.
And you leave Judd alone. Baby's got back on that one.

I bet the thing doing all the biting is a f*cking demon or some devil like entity. Would've been better if the bedbugs were some extraterrestrial 'ant colony' gone awry, like the aliens tossed out their trash and the little e.t. critters therein found way into these people's homes. The way it's written here, it sounds more like The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

This reminds me of a short horror story I read that was written in the early 1900s:
A young man and woman, who are brother and sister, are living in the house inherited from their parents. One day the brother notices that his sister looks fatigued and sick and takes her to her bed. Everyday she looks a lot worse than the last, but despite the best doctors looking at her, no one can seem to figure out what's wrong with her. The sister gets weaker and weaker, until finally the maid goes up one morning to check on her, and discovers that her mistress has died during the night.
After her funeral, the maid is cleaning off the young woman's bed when she realizes that the pillow, which is full of feathers, is a lot heavier than it should be. She calls the brother, who takes his knife and slits open the pillow. To everyone's horror, there's a giant insect living inside the pillow, swollen with the sister's blood. It turns out that every night, while the sister was sleeping, the insect would feed on her blood like a mosquito, leaving puncture marks so small that no one had noticed them.
