First Look: Dwayne Johnson in Michael BaySubmit Comment
A few days ago we showed you the first photos of a muscular Mark Wahlberg on the set of Michael Bay's upcoming "Pain and Gain." And today we have new shots of Wahlberg, in addition to the first look at his co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Plus, Ken Jeong (Transformers 3) has just joined the cast, re-teaming with Bay after "Transformers 3."

Plot: Based on a Miami New Times article from 1999, "Pain and Gain" will follow a pair of Florida bodybuilders (Johnson, Wahlberg) who get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.

The new movie co-stars Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Tony Shalhoub, Bar Paly and Rebel Wilson. It will be distributed by Paramount Pictures, but a release date has yet to be set.

I never saw the appeal of bulking up like that. I mean, I guess it works for movies and whatnot, but in real life you have to spend something like 3 hours a day in gym and eat mass quantities of food to STAY like that.

Most people with 40-hour work weeks just donít have the time nor the energy (or money Ė that sh*tís expensive). Eventually you deflate, your body loses definition and you start to look like a sad sack of potatoes. And for what, just so you can look like some freakish Popeye caricature meathead?

If itís your job to look like that, or to play football or anything of the sort, fine. Otherwise, itís just not worth it.

I believe in good physical fitness like staying lean and in-shape.

Sure this isn't a photo from the set of the Twins sequel?

@cannon

True, if you're an actor or a model - you have a personal chef to watch for your diet, trainer to keep you in shape and that's your job to look good - you get paid for that. Look at Jerry Butler - he lets himself go in between roles. 300 shape he is not.

BUT I know for myself, that if you trained hard when younger be it gym or martial arts or both - your body remembers the shape, and it's not that hard to keep it without not only roids but even protein shakes or whatever it is called. 75-100 pull ups a day, push ups and other exercises with own weight only - takes me about an hour a day in the evening, plus occasional running, boxing spars - enough to stay in very good shape. Haven't been in a gym for about a year now because of work, but this kind of daily routine seems to be enough for now.

Ehh, is Wahlberg doing a one hand kickstand in the 5th pic? Never known a body builder who can do that.

Most bodybuilders I know also don't have wires attached to them like in the middle of that pic.

Because all in all it's a hell of a lot harder and a hell of a lot more painful. Any monkey can go do some curls and bench some weight. Doing the exercises that build the lean muscles around the ulna and radius takes major work and discipline.
