"Man of Steel" Banner Arrives OnlineSubmit Comment
The official Facebook page for the upcoming "Superman" reboot, called "Man of Steel," has unveiled a banner, featuring the iconic "S" shield. Check it out below.

Plot: Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

"Man of Steel" is directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) and produced by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight). It is set to hit theaters on June 14th, 2013.

Boogiel- My thoughts exactly.

Sounds promising...just hope Snyder didn't have anything to do with the script.

Although great to look at, SUCKERPUNCH'S (Snyder was co-writer) plot left much to be desired. But yhe visuals are stunning...

Snyder, considering the source material, did a great WATCHMEN. When Spielberg, Gilliam, & other top director welched, Snyder was able to keep fanboys happy & the general public happy. BTW Jackie Earl Haley did Rorschach scene of the dog/rapist is, to me, the most flinching, badass, perfect sequence in the whole movie.

Obviously, Dr Manhattan was a version of Superman which brought a good point...would an all powerful alien really give a flying f*ck care what happens in this planet?

This time, Superman's plays off something loosely like that, but romanticized. Basically, Snyder will elaborate on why he became Superman, where Donner covered that within first quarter in of the first part. Hopefully the gamble pays off.

Hope it's better than "Superman Returns" where you just want to think that it's a good movie but your brain is blocking that thought. I always wondered if DC are gonna do what Marvel did with the Avengers... Make Superman,Batman,Wonder Woman,Flash,Green Lantern,Aqua Man etc movies and eventually come up with a Justice League film... although if the Justice League movie would suck it would probably end DC comic book movies forever...

does this take place before or after Superman Returns? or is this just a reboot?

BigUnit writes:

it's not hard to do, but by far, this is going to be the best superman movie we have ever seen. I'm looking forward to this one, i agree snyders Sucker Punch had a couple mis-writes, but his movies are always so visually stunning, Man of Steal is written by the nolan brothers and you know they dont dissapoint. Snyder's visuals + Nolans mind = One Epic Flick!
markoz writes:

@CelluloidMan

Actually, Dr.Manhattan was based on another DC comics character, Captain Atom.
Crazyhorse writes:

Still think Donners Superman S is the best
minkowski writes:
on March 30th, 2012 at 6:42:46 PM

They made others after Donner's Superman, crazy?
markoz writes:
on March 31st, 2012 at 11:12:24 AM

Well, look at it this way.Donner's Superman S was based on comics of that time, Returns and Man of Steel have their own,unique design
CelluloidMan writes:

@Markoz
Really? Thanks for the correction, but correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Moore's WATCHMEN turned the superhero genre on it's head basically putting a damaged psyche to the superhero archetype such as:
Dr Manhattan- Capt Atom/ Superman amalgam
NiteOwl as Batman
Rorschach as Wolverine
The Spectre II as Wonderman
The Comedian as Capt America (desilliusioned)
Ozymandias as possibly man denying the need of existance superheroes or rejecting being saved despite its self destruction?

The attraction of the WATCHMEN comics/ movie, to me, was how would the world be withe superheroes with their human flaws/ virtues in the real world with the global/US politics of the times.

Or...maybe I'm just oversimplifying everything & reading into too deep when its really not...
