"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Creator Comments on Director's Comments

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Creator Comments on DirectorSubmit Comment
Ever since Michael Bay revealed that the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot will make the turtles aliens instead of mutants, we've had the director, producers, both creators and cast members from the original trilogy comment on Turtle-gate 2012. This nonsense has gone on for about a week, and we're not about to stop it.

Today, Peter Laird, who is a co-creator of the franchise and who has already commented on this, is back with his opinion on what director Jonathan Liebesman recently said about the controversy, which is that fans are going to love what they come up with.

"I read the director's comments and found them to be vague and open to different interpretations," said Laird. "One of the most obvious of which is, sadly, that the Turtles are from an alien race. Which is exactly what Michael Bay said. I guess we'll have to wait and see."

He went on to say that he was never a fan of the Saturday morning animated series, stating:

"Had I been making the key creative decisions for that first animated series, it would have been VERY different. Among other things, there would likely have been no moronic henchmen like Bebop and Rocksteady. The Shredder would have been seriously malevolent. April would not have been a reporter and constantly need to be rescued by the Turtles. The Turtles would not have been so ridiculously obsessed with pizza, and the Shredder would not have had as one of his businesses a restaurant called "Ninja Pizza". There might have been something that sort of looked like Krang, but it would have been an Utrom in a cool robotic exoskeleton. And the show would not have had a joke or gag every five seconds."

Well, since this "nonsense" has been more than a week, it seems Mr. Laird wants his TMNT creation ala Nolan's Batman franchise... In a few words, it wouldn't work a bit...I just hope this one gets cancel in a couple of weeks!!!!!

Good God!

5 times in 7 days about those bloody turtles! This has turned into an obsession. Enough already.

He obviously has no control over his creation
Too busy countin his $$ to care till its too late to do anything about it.
Bay should show the movie only on saturday mornings that way the TMNT creators are still asleep and would care less, not at least for 20years

If you don't own the property anymore, you can't say sh*t when someone comes along and f*cks it up and if you always felt like this even when you were creating them there is something called "artistic integrity" you f*cking douche!!

Of course your not gonna stop, cause you don't have for the moment more "interesting" news to post and/or they're paying you to promote this nonsense... literally my sh*t on paper has more value than this "article" and the ones before.

I remember, originally, the comics being dark & serious. They were even back & white at some point, if memory serves me.

As for the cartoons, I only remember the early ones being the best ones, "Enter The Shredder" was pretty good & action packed. Then, they made it more kid friendly with more jokes/ gags, less action, & lazied on the animation, IMO.

Moving on...

I think Peter Laird forgets that the Saturday morning cartoon was a CARTOON, as in for kids, you know, CHILDREN, so yeah, it was silly and had jokes and whatnot, because, you know, it was aimed at CHILDREN.

I have to emphasize certain words because Laird apparently doesn't possess common sense, which is why his only achievement in life is co-creator of talking ninja turtles...
