The Asylum, the company behind such rip-offs as "Transmorphers" and "Snakes on a Train," is back with a rip-off of the upcoming "Battleship" movie. Their version is called "American Battleship" and stars Carl Weathers (Rocky, Predator) and Mario Van Peebles. Check out the trailer, that's full of misspellings, below.
Plot: When a fleet of mysterious ships wage war against the Earth, only the crew of the USS Iowa, the last American battleship, can prevent global Armageddon.
"American Battleship" is directed by Thunder Levin (Mutant Vampire Zombies from the Hood) and is set to appear stores and VOD on May 15th, only two days before Peter Berg's "Battleship" hits theaters.
"When the enemy is 'unkown'"?
"Fire the BIG guns"?
Is that... is that Lindsay Lohan?
And no aliens!
I wanna see this rather than the original, though.

1. No enemy in the trailer, just some blurry penetrating thing that could be from a porn clip. I take it then that because the enemy is going to be either CGI or stop-motion animated toys, the enemy then must look like sh*t or else it would have appeared in the trailer.
2. Lots and lots and lots of stock footage.
3. Carl Weathers. RIP.
4. This makes the real Battleship look like....look like....well something a hell of a lot better than American Battleship.
