Martin Campbell to Replace James Cameron as Director of "The Dive"

Martin Campbell to Replace James Cameron as Director of "The Dive"Submit Comment
James Cameron has been planning to direct "The Dive" since at least 2006, but now comes word that 20th Century Fox has attached director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Green Lantern) to replace Cameron, who's busy working on the next two "Avatar" installments.

"The Dive" is a true story about the romance between controversial Cuban free diver Francisco "Pipin" Ferreras and Frenchwoman Audrey Mestre. Under his guidance, Mestre became a free diver who broke several world records but died in 2002 while competing. (Free-diving competitors must hold their breath for long periods of time while deep under water.)

Cameron's Lightstorm production company will still produce and J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling) will write the script.

I think that Martin gave us two of the best Bond films ever, Goldeneye being my favorite Bond, but seeing what he did on Green Lantern makes me think he cant do anything else. Edge of Darkness was alright, but that just because the MAN, Mel f*ckIN Gibson, was in it.

Argh! This was already done by Luc BESSON in "Le Grand Bleu" or The Big Blue in 1988 with Jean RENO!

The storyline is exactly the same with The Dive! Why the f*ck do you want to repeat that it's not even a remake for God sake! They start to behave in Hollywood like the Chinese by copying everything. Cretins.

Bullit- I think I'm a lot more comfortable with Bessons obsession with the sea than Camerons as well.

@Bullit - The Big Blue was a great movie and the soundtrack excellent. The movie still holds up well. You are right, no need for a remake it. Knowing Cameron, he probably had in mind introducing some f*cking CGI sea-monkeys.
