TVLine has learned that Eddie Izzard (Valkyrie) has been cast as Grandpa Munster in NBC's upcoming "The Munsters" reboot, which is now being called "Mockingbird Lane."
Bryan Singer (Valkyrie, X-Men) will executive produce and is planning to direct the pilot episode. Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies") ia also producing. The plan is to make a more serious and "visually spectacular" hourlong drama.
Grandpa Munster is a vampire and was originally played by Al Lewis in the classic 1960's show.

"The plan is to make a more serious and "visually spectacular" hourlong drama."
And they'll accomplish this task by using a television show featuring characters every bit as serious as Scooby Doo.
Can't wait for the more serious, more visually appealing, Mork and Mindy.

'Pushing Daisies'... is that a euphemism for Singer 'Tamping Turds!' (like we have to ask)?

What mink said. They're (trying) to turn a fab, fun 60's classic comedy into a 1-hour drama?
Who's the salesman that sells this sh*t to the studios, because they could sell ketchup popsicles to a woman in white gloves!

Nice casting of Eddie Izzard to play the after-dead vampire.
They'll save a fortune on make-up.

Zero interest in this.
