Fifth Jack Ryan Film Loses Director

Fifth Jack Ryan Film Loses DirectorSubmit Comment
Paramount Pictures was hoping to begin shooting "Moscow," the fifth Jack Ryan film, during the summer. Jack Bender ("Alcatraz") has been on board to direct since 2010, but has now dropped out of the project due to his busy television schedule.

Chris Pine is still on board to play Jack Ryan and is also the reason for the delay. The studio has been waiting for him to finish shooting "Star Trek 2" in order to start production on "Moscow." The goal is still to meet the start date, which is why it's critical to find Bender's replacement soon.

The new movie is based on the character created by Tom Clancy. That character has previously been played by Alec Baldwin in "The Hunt for Red October," Harrison Ford in "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger," and Ben Affleck in "The Sum of All Fears."

I think Chris is really good as Jack Ryan. Hope that the delay wont be for long because if this goes on, Chris might bolt out of the movie project. What do you think?

I think Chris Pine is a good actor but not the right choice for Jack Ryan.

John Woo or John Hyams (Universal Soldier: Regerenation) would be great to direct the reboot with the right script.

I don't mind Chris Pine as a young Jack Ryan. My only concern is the material, Tom Clancy doesn't have a novel called Moscow. If this is going to be an original screenplay then f*ck off and keep it original. Of course this is Hollywood. Hopefully it's an adaptation of Red Rabbit.

Ok,if you say so.

Chris Pine, today's Ben Affleck. Dude has the acting potential of a cardboard box. All packing, no content. He reeked in Unstoppable, and Star Trek, well, we all admit Quinto stole the show, right? Him and the naked green chick.

He's one of those guys some gay 'director' saw in a Malibu mall and said, yeah, I'd like to see him in some tighty-whities, and next thing you know, after a few 'couching sessions', Pine is doing A-list material without ever having earned the right to be there. I guess if it makes the girls cream, it's a good investment.

As for Jack Ryan...Harrison Ford is Ryan. There will never be another Jack Ryan film nearly as good as Patriot Games so they can stop trying.

Game over, man, game over!

Since Ford is too old(unless they give Ryan a desk job),i think Baldwin can make a come back to film now that he lost weight and full of Cialis
Hes always said that was his biggest regret(not doin the Jack Ryan movies) but you cant lose with Ford,i'd like to see him play another villain,he's only played one twice,The Communicator/What Lies Beneath. Oh American Graffiti

Harrison Ford will be missed, Pornfly, no doubt. One of his best latter year flicks is Six Days Seven Nights. Turned me on to Anne Heche too.

Bad idea. Rehashing Jack Ryan for tween girls isn't a good strategy. Lots of good it did for Affleck in that pile of sh*t "The Sum of All Fears" amirite?

I expect Moscow will turn into a Hollywood screenwriter's wet dream to bastardize a bunch of Clancy Russian plots together (eg. high ranking miltary mole's defection from Cardinal of the Kremlin and China's invasion into Russian oil/gold resources from Bear and the Dragon). Pine is an empty shell of an actor who will only be as good as the script and a competant director capable of moving a story across several continents and action fronts. Baldwin and Ford are way too old to reprise their roles unless Ryan becomes President. And Affleck was forgetable.

Im pretty sure pine comes from some sort of hollywood royalty family of some sort. I remember seeing an interview he did where he said he never really had any interest in being an actor. He only tried it because various family members were in the buisness and he got an easy job. Basically said he does not take acting all that seriously. He is basically the picture on every struggling actors dartboard. Hes a far less talented version of nic cage when you think about it
