First Look: Joseph Gordon-Levitt in "Looper" Time-Travel ThrillerSubmit Comment
TriStar Pictures has released the first two photos from the upcoming futuristic action thriller "Looper" featuring a look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises). Check them out below.

Plot: In the new movie, time travel will be invented but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" a hired gun, like Joe (Gordon-Levitt) is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good... until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe's future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

"Looper" is written and directed by Rian Johnson (The Brothers Bloom, Brick), and co-stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo and Jeff Daniels. It is set to hit theaters on September 28th.

This movie seems very interesting and I'm very excited about it. I was a bit confused as to how they settled Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis playing the past/future versions of each other but the make-up job they did on JGL is really good, subtle work.

On Coast-toCoast radio show Dr. Michio Kakoo (forgive my spelling) said that the collider in Sweden was very close to sending things into the past such as,as he put it "a copy of The Wall Street Journal into one day in the past"

Can't wait. I'm guessing Rian BRICK Johnson will bring a gritty, dark headf*ck of a timetravel movie.

Well, hopefully...

Hey Bruce, good job on nailing Demi before she went all batsh*t crazy

Something about his look seems different. Is he wearing prosthetics on his face or some sh*t? Its like Keanu Reeves and Ryan Gosling had a kid together.

@Pornfly: You mean Switzerland? We sadly don't have any colliders in Sweden.

The story is good, the cast is okay and JGL looks awesome in those pictures.

At least, Looper will be better than Setup with 50 Cent and Bruce Willis in it, that movie was Willis's big mistake.

Well G.I Joe 2 and The Expendables 2 is coming out this year so there will be plenty of fans who will forgive him for Setup.

As much as i love Bruce, i'm kinda pleased that they're marketing this movie as a JGL movie

@Avirex, looks like it, he looks f*ckin' weird in this photos O_O Maybe made up to look a little more like Willis maybe? Not too sure :/ Sounds f*ckin' great tho! JGL is absolutely amazing! Can't wait to see it :)

Yes JGL is wearing prosthetics, so he looks more like Willis, his future self.
This movie is going to be awesome. Great cast, with Rian at the helm directing it. Perfect.

i like the plot so far...is this a sign that hollywood is actually about story rather than visuals finally?...i'd like to think so but it rarely happens when you have tweeny bullsh*t in the way of everything, especially when they aren't tweens anymore but still act like them and appeal to them most, and by tweens i mean beiber fever, twilight, all that other horse sh*t
minkowski writes:

Could be good. The concept is a little stale and Willis doesn't deliver anything these days but cart after cart of sh*t, but Gordon-Levitt is a solid, reliable actor, and time-travel always has something to offer if done with a modic*m of intelligence, so I'll check this out eventually for sure.

but if bruce willis kills JGL doesnt that mean he's killing himself..??

unless they're working with alternate universes as well as time travel??
Ranger writes:

A couple of theories on that (well, only 2 really).

1. Two exact equals can't occupy the same space at the same time (I don't buy into this one for whatever reason).

2. If you're able to time travel and kill yourself in another time, you don't kill yourself, because if that happened you'd be dead already, thus not able to make the trip. It (is supposed to) hold true even if you go back in time killing a younger version of yourself, and clearly going ahead in time to kill an older version of yourself is not a problem because, hey... you're old there, who gives a crap?

This sounds like time cop only with the mod, instead of the police. But JGL has always been a good actor. Loved the look out and brick... I'm sure this will be better than most films in recent history...
Man in Black writes:

@ Ranger, i do believe you're invoking the Grandfather Paradox with theory 2 and the first one is also plausible yet I am no S. Hawking .

On topic , I think both the casting and execution of this movie will be done well , JGL did a fine job in 500 DOS .
CelluloidMan writes:
on March 20th, 2012 at 2:58:08 AM

Is it me or is JGL the Giovanni Ribisi of his generation?

Both I've found badly seen as character actors, but I just see them as underrated and underused.

Hopefully LOOPER will be a breakout role for JGL.
