"Ouija" Movie Cuts Budget from $100 Million to $5 Million

"Ouija" Movie Cuts Budget from $100 Million to $5 MillionSubmit Comment
Back in August, Universal Pictures decided to abandon the "Ouija" movie, based on the popular Hasbro toy. THR is now reporting that the studio has decided to give the project another shot, but with a much lower budget.

During original discussions, the movie carried a price-tag of around $100 million and was supposed to be a family adventure with lots of special effects. Michael Bay was on board to produce, but now, Universal brought on Jason Blum to join him.

Blum is known for micro-budget horror films like "Paranormal Activity" and "Insidious." The studio will let him take control of "Ouija" and develop the film for under $5 million.

$100 Million for a creepy board game? Get the f*ck out!!
Now 5 mill is definitely doable.

I guess they don't want another BATTLESHIP, huh?

Well, why, it is like they don't believe the game to be a good starting point for a movie? What gave them that idea?

Kudos to Universal. This sure to be piece of sh*t movie shouldn't even get a dime over $100 budget but whatever. I bet this movie will make $5,000,001, making it at least profitable(snicker)

@Porn - did Sinead plump-out too? WTF?!?!

They wanted this to be a family movie? A fun board game that dabbles in the black arts?!

Whatever.

$5mil. - it'll look as crappy as it should - good. Now I may watch this.

Why pay 5 million to make a movie about a board game when you can own the f*cking board game for 20 bucks? That's less than the cost of two tickets!

"was supposed to be a family adventure"
are f*cking kidding me why the hell would you make a ouija board movie and make it a family film? wtf, even though it would still be bad at least make it a horror film
SquirrelFlyer writes:

as the tension rose...the ouija board slowly crept to the word "YES"

DexterMorgan writes:

well it would be better than family ouija board movie, and i didn't say it would be good as a horror film i said it would be better
SquirrelFlyer writes:

i got your point, thats just how bad i could see it being haha
minkowski writes:

I'm not sure why anyone thinks it has to be a horror film.

Zathura and Jumanji were board game based films, and they were family-oriented.

Just because the board game is used to 'communicate with the dead' doesn't mean they planned on using vampires and blood-sucking ghosts.

Probably something more like Casper or some sh*t.

If I had a hot sister I'd play the Ouija board with her and slide that thingy around 'til it told her to f*ck me.
