Trailer: Jack BlackSubmit Comment
We now have the trailer for the upcoming "Bernie" comedy, starring Jack Black, Mathew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine. Check it out below.

Plot: The movie is set in the small town of Carthage, Texas, and follows community leader/mortician Bernie (Black), who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a wealthy but very particular widow (MacLaine). When he kills her, he goes to great lengths to maintain the illusion that she is still alive. McConaughey will play the town's district attorney, always angling for re-election and suspicious about the widow's death.

"Bernie" is directed by Richard Linklater (The School of Rock, Dazed and Confused) and will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival before its April 27th release.

From the trailer it looked like she WAS alive but then he shot her and everyone knew she was dead? There was nothing to suggest he pretended she was alive or am I missing something?

Also Matthew McConaughey is one of the worst actors of all time and needs to stop getting payed money to star in films when there's millions of better actors than him out there who deserve a break.

They better called it as Weekend at Bernie's 2.0

If this an attempt to black humor, Jack Black is still not funny.

My British friend, you're oh so right, BUT, all those guys don't make the bitches cream a load, so he keeps getting work because fat, desperate chicks want to see him on screen.

Them's the breaks.

worth a watch but not in the theaters.

I do remember this being in the a report of Forensics Files or ABC news or something, but I do remember this being a true story. the Bernie character was actually gay and shot the old lady until some lawyer or police chief (McConaughey) started investigating him. Bernie character made excuses that she wasn't there or out, making believe she was alive, but was already was dead.

I would watch this just because of R. Linklater. The f*cker does risky projects. DAZED AND CONFUSED is a cult classic. SCHOOL OF ROCK looked liked a lame movie, was actually decent; the guy pulled it off. SCANNER DARKLY is a fairly close to the material and was pretty cool in its execution, but the material was too out there for me...

You never know with Linklater...I'll check it out.
