Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now have the official poster for "Bernie," starring Jack Black, Mathew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine. Check it out below.

Plot: The movie is set in the small town of Carthage, Texas, and follows community leader/mortician Bernie (Black), who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a wealthy but very particular widow (MacLaine). When he kills her, he goes to great lengths to maintain the illusion that she is still alive. McConaughey will play the town's district attorney, always angling for re-election and suspicious about the widow's death.

"Bernie" is directed by Richard Linklater (The School of Rock, Dazed and Confused) and will premiere next month at the SXSW Film Festival before its April 27th release.

Jack Black pulling faces again. I like the director though so this could be quite funny.

Been waiting for Black to play a role similar to this. Could (?) be well worth a watch.

So is this the remake of "Weekend at Bernies" they were talking about?

The only thing Jack can murder is his own career. O wait you have to have one first.

I was an extra in this and go to be a priest in a funeral scene with Jack Black and Shirley MClaine. They're premiering it at SXSW in Austin next month. Been waiting for a decent Jack Black movie. This could be it.

And weirdly enough, I always thought he needed another "School of Rock"-type of success...Linklater did it once, maybe he could do it again.

Jack Black's 'career' needs to go dark. Forever.

I dont hate on this guy.He started in small roles like Mars Attack,Cable Guy,Jackal with Bruce Willis. Then moved up in Hollywood.Like him in School of Rock,Tenacious D,Nacho Libre.

He'll never have the looks of James Dean,Tom Cruise or Pitt.Hes just an average guy that made it in the biz.
minkowski writes:

Yeah, but he ruined Enemy of the State with his annoying attempts at unwanted, unnecessary 'humor'. It was an ACTION movie, but someone saw fit to make him the comedy routine, and I won't soon forget it.

SMith ruined Enemy of the state for me.Cruise turned it down.Would of preferred Cruise 100x
minkowski writes:

Cruise would've been great, but he did Minority Report, his won run and hide film, so it worked out IMO.

Rambo writes:

i actually didn't mind 'behind enemy lines' it was a brainless stylish action movie.maybe the only tolerable movie with owen wilson.
