Thanks to ScreenRant, we now have a new photo of The Hulk from "The Avengers," who looks a lot like the actor who plays him, Mark Ruffalo. Check out the photo below.

Plot: Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger," in Marvel's "The Avengers," the world's greatest Super Heroes must assemble to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security.

"The Avengers" is directed by Joss Whedon (Serenity) and is set to hit theaters on May 4th.

it looks okay...maybe 3rd time's a charm?

I think they caught the Hulk jacking off. He looks angry.

Anyway, looks good, I guess, but damn if the textures aren't off. And the area around the mouth, the teeth, not too good. Don't they have ways of rendering with sub-surface scattering or don't they give a sh*t?

hes green.

After reading about the birth of Lindsay Lohan, David Banner got angry and turned into the Hulk.

In his blind rage, he f*cked a young student photographer in the ass. Hulk's radioactive semen mutated the young man into a new hero, a hero we all call Spiderman.

FYI.

@OneTime --- it's not easy being green.

What's the uh...schlong situation when he goes hulk mode? cause if it does go hulk mode itself that would cause major damage were he to whip that thing out.

Even then Lindsey Lohan would still ask, "is it in?"

Looks like he is taking a sh*t or he has shat himself and is wondering how can he leave without everyone realising it.

Looks exactly like present day Lou Ferrigno..minus the oldness, retardedness and more employed.

Maybe it actually is Ruffalo testing a new military drug.

@Mink:

This picture is from the superbowl trailer isnt it? It is not really new. But this was taken out of a very fast paced shot, so why waste render time and money for details nobody is going to notice during the shot.
If it looks exactly like this in a close up then yeah they dont give a sh*t^^

But what would you change besides the ss-scattering? Whats wrong with the textures?
I'm just curious, I mean you are probably the only one here working in the CGI field.

Must of had a full-time man (or girl). They do that when they go off the market. Mainly to punish the guy for taking them off the market.
minkowski writes:

"Whats wrong with the textures?"

Slight stretching, some blurriness and here's the real deal: no SSS means they have to compensate with texture detail so they filled his textures with what looks like liver spots.

And for a promo shot, throwing in SSS isn't that big of a deal. Mental Ray can handle it better than most, and MR is pretty standard on every basic package from Maya to XSI. It's de facto.

And what, they couldn't so Rick Baker sculpting in Zbrush or Mudbox? Mudbox is Autodesk so it's an easy pipeline solution.

I think this one is the more realistic of the 3 incarnations. They're using mo-cap on Ruffalo to act even as the Hulk...f*cker even looks like Ruffalo. Can't wait to see how THE AVENGERS turns out.
Except for Capt America's suit, that abomination should be burn in Hollywood hell & the designer should be dragged out to the street & shot 3 times in the face!!

Thinking about it, Hulk part 1 was OK, but I just it took too long to setup. The angle of the father experimenting on his son & gamma radiation triggering was interesting. Also, Ang Lee couldn't balance either to make it a drama or comic book movie, like when comic book frames on sceneswere placed when Josh Lucas' character is killed.
But the action was boss!! Especially with the tanks & helicopters. Plus, I think the first part had the best cast.

As for part 2, Norton really nailed it & I really like the nods to the other incarnations like the stretchy purple pants, L Ferrigno cameo, piano theme of B Bixby when walking down the road & the "wouldn't want to see me when I'm ...hungry" line.
The problem was the CGI. I mean, it was atrocious!! Shrek looked more realistic! The CGI actually TOOK AWAY from a pretty good Norton/ Tyler storyline. The worst part was that it ended with those lame animations. Also, my anal retentiveness could help but notice how Norton had a beard & Hulk didn't, then Norton again had it...but I did like the ending with Norton at the end.

I have high hopes with this mo-cap Ruffalo/ Hulk. It could even be a dry run for the CGI The Thing for the rebooted THE FANTASTIC FOUR...maybe.
minkowski writes:
on February 24th, 2012 at 2:21:03 PM

All the other Hulks were probably at least partly mo-capped, and it didn't help them look credible.

I guess that's why they call him the Incredible Hulk.

In reality, it's the CGI that breaks the illusion. The green skin is NEVER right. And thus people come away thinking they watched a cartoon.
CelluloidMan writes:
on February 24th, 2012 at 3:07:17 PM

I think you're on to something Mink...

I could see the Hulk being played by a real actor but by camera angles and set adjustments could increase in size like reverse as the dwarves in THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

That way, it could be more of an "realistic" approach and would be more credible in interacting with actors and props; possible CGI from fall away shots on jumping or explosions.

I like that version better...Cheers, mate!
minkowski writes:
on February 24th, 2012 at 3:21:28 PM

Cheers to you too.

I wonder if people know Ferrigno got the job over Arnie because Lou is actually taller? lol. Makes sense though, and he was a decent hulk for a tv show, right? And Bill Bixby was awesome too.

I will be vey intersted to see how the Hulk and Thor get on together in the Avengers. Given how they have sometimes clashed in the comics.

Although I hear it suggested that the Hulk may not have that big a part to play in the movie?

As an Aussie sci-fi writer; Iíve written a solid collection of Marvel (espec Thor) fan fiction, why not check it out? http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1276881/David_Scholes
