Edgar Wright to Direct Johnny Depp in "The Night Stalker"Submit Comment
Disney has signed Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) to direct "The Night Stalker," a remake of the ABC telepic and series that the studio is developing with Johnny Depp, who is producing and will likely take the lead role.

Plot: Wisecracking reporter Carl Kolchak concludes that a vampire is on the loose after investigating a string of gruesome murders in Las Vegas in which the victims are drained of blood. Since the mayor, the police chief and his own editor think he's crazy, it's up to Kolchak to stop the bloodsucker himself.

The new movie will be PG-13 in order to fit into Disney's slate of family films. Meanwhile, Wright is also attached to direct "Ant-Man" for the studio.

This could be good. Kolchak was the direct inspiration for The X-Files, though I really don't see Depp in the role.

This could be very good if they just scrap the PG13...
Gruesome murders in Vegas and they wanna limit this to PG13... get f*cked.

Also it would be the first Johnny movie i would actually want to see since 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico'

I hope its much better than that stupid Rum Dum Diary movie

That had to be his worst film

Mink is right. I actually got this confused for the Richard Ramirez movie they were developing. Either way Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp are both great so this will be good.

"Mink is right. I actually got this confused for the Richard Ramirez movie they were developing."

And to add to your confusion, Ramirez wasn't the original Nightstalker:

Sounds great, let's hope Depp plays someone different than the character he's been playing the recent years.

Gruesome murders, drained on blood. It certainly sounds like good ol' family fun.

Thank God a vampire movie is coming out. Lord knows its a rare treat these days to have a vampire movie.

So it's basically Fright Night with reporter?

But yeah, i will watch anything that Wright directs.

This sounds intetesting. Not the vampire thing, but Edgar Wright directing.

I watched SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD & really enjoyed the movie. Moreso, because you could tell Wright was really having fun with the medium & all the gamer references made it was so different from the usual Hollywood fare, very refreshing.

Speaking of which, that ANT MAN project has been around for a long time. As I understand it, the script was done a long ass time ago, but will not fit with the Avengers since it's more like a comedy.

Can't wait.

Johnny Depp is not getting any wiser with the years; Disney's PG-13 + victims getting drained of blood? It's not gonna work.
