Jonny Lee Miller Cast in CBS' "Sherlock Holmes" TV Series

Posted: February 15th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Jonny Lee Miller Cast in CBSSubmit Comment
CBS is working on a new "Sherlock Holmes" TV series and has now hired Jonny Lee Miller (Hackers, Trainspotting, "Eli Stone," "Dexter") to play the title character. Robert Doherty ("NYPD Blue") wrote the script and is executive producing. Michael Cuesta ("Homeland," "Dexter," Twelve and Holding) will direct.

The new show will be a modern take on the cases of Sherlock Holmes, who will now live in New York City. It's still unclear who will play Holmes, but many are assuming that CBS will make the famous sidekick a woman.

Miller most recently starred in Danny Boyle's "Frankenstein" play in London, a role that earning him an Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Actor. He shared it with his co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, who coincidentally plays Holmes on BBC's "Sherlock" series.

So Johnny Lee Miller has been hired "to play the title character", but "it's still unclear who will play Holmes"?? Um....what?

I have an idea. Put Holmes in the Wild West. Call it 'Scurlock Holmes'.

ka-CHING!

A woman sidekick? Yeah! Like that is not gonna bomb after the first episode.

Luckily the BBC didn't screw up their version of "Sherlock" eventhough it does have a hint of "Doctor Who" about it.

Well, to be fair, The X-Files had a female sidekick, so...

Mink

I wouldn't have classed Dana Scully as Fox Mulders' sidekick in "X-Files"

It's just I know how this will play out and it won't be good.

Holmes here, Holmes there...BBC, the RDJ, and now this?

Maybe CBS should put it in the hood, and the series could be called Sherman Homeboy (honestly, who gets names Sherlock anyway? He'd have a beatdown everyday) & he'd have to solve murders, drive bys, rapes...it'd be like Boyz in the Hood and CSI.

The sidekick could be a bailsbondsman that was named Whatson, cause that would be his quote. "What son?"

I'd watch that...What? Too much?

How about getting John Landis to do it ans call it Schlock Holmes? lol

I like Jonny Lee Miller and he deserves some sort of success, but this will not be it.

Only good thing I can say about this idea: It's not another singing/dancing reality show.

BBC made/making one of the best Sherlock series. Stop trying to ride the curtails on everything the BBC does. The US just needs to air BBC TV more often and stop wasting time remaking what is already there.

In other notes, I like Johnny Lee Miller. I still sit down on a boring Sunday when I should be preying to save my soul, and watch Hackers or Trainspotting.

"I wouldn't have classed Dana Scully as Fox Mulders' sidekick in "X-Files""

Maybe you wouldn't have, but she was his sidekick, no doubt about it, every bit as much as Watson was to Holmes, and Sherlock Holmes and the X-Files are very much silmilar is a number of repects, so many that I've wondered if the X-Files wasn't inspired more by Doyle than Kolchak...

Speaking of X-Files.. Anybody heard about a last movie or is it all rumors ??

I'm an American, and I honestly believe that Sherlock Holmes needs to stay British. BBC has created a brilliant series, and I agree with struck21, they need to air BBC shows more often.
LastActionHero writes:

How about Hackers 2 instead!!!

"Speaking of X-Files.. Anybody heard about a last movie or is it all rumors ??"

No movie coming atm. FOX has no faith in X-Files.
