"Battle: Los Angeles" Director to Helm Live-Action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Reboot

"Battle: Los Angeles" Director to Helm Live-Action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" RebootSubmit Comment
Paramount Pictures is in talks with Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans) to direct a live-action reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Michael Bay is on board to produce.

In the original 1984 comic book, "TMNT" centered on four turtles who take on humanoid form after coming into contact with radioactive slime. They are trained in karate by their humanoid rat master, Splinter, to fight the evil Shredder and his army of ninjas.

The film's story is being kept a secret, but it will be a new re-imagining of the comic book and cartoon series. The hope is that the film will lay a foundation for the studio's next big franchise. The original 1990 film grossed more than $200 million worldwide.

From director of Battle: Los Angeles you say?! I can't wait to see boring action!

B:LA failed on so many levels, it was really insulting that that guy got another job.

There's no way they could ever surpass the original live-action film.

Mink,

The originial will never be topped. But I dunno, I didn't see Battle: LA but I have a feeling this remake could work. None of this CGI sh*t.

The last CG movie wasn't too bad and it had Eastman attached to it. If he's a part of the production like before I'm in.

I think it could work. A lot of us remember growing up with the turtles, so it would be fun. Just as long as it's not too childish.

Speaking of remake, what about giving this movie to the TMNT fan director that made that short film with Casey Jones with one the original martial artists playing Donatello from Part 1.

It just starts with a couple of guys around a fired metal barrel & Casey starting trouble, then you see Donatello joining him when Jones is getting his ass beat in another scene.

Its dark, gritty & very violent, partly because of its lowi budget. The version I've seen, has the sound is off. Anybody seen it? Haven't been able find it...

Might be ok.

Kind of liked "Battle: Los Angeles"

The credits were pretty good, I thought.

Only if the turtles and Splinter all do bukakee and f*ck April's brains out in all 3 holes.

sometimes the original comes on tv and my nephew loves it, and he's only 2, just proves a remake isn't necessary and even though it may be live-action, i'd rather not see a re-imagining garnished with the currencies of half assed acting and tweeny actors/actresses casted

battle los angeles is one of the worst movies ever made.I agree with every word of Roger Ebert's rare negative review.

Wonder if the turtles will now be CGI?

- Grew up loving the original and still do.
- Don't f*ck this up
- Battle LA was just an Americanised far
sh*ttier version of District 9.

Battle : LA was no Black Hawk Down but still pretty good..
Not so sure about giant ninja turtles and a rat sensei, but the kids might love it :)

Although this is probably one of the only films I could get behind for a reboot. Anything with Bay producing over the last 2 decades has sucked d*cks.

And Liebesman... Jesus. Battle: LA. Was absolutely awful. I remember the trailers made it look amazing, Wrath of the Titans will suffer the same fate no doubt.

@Powder . This would be the first reboot. I hope they do a better jobe with Casey Jones this time. The guy in the first movie was horrible.
