Jim Carrey Joins "Borat" Director for "Pierre Pierre" Comedy

Jim Carrey Joins "Borat" Director for "Pierre Pierre" ComedySubmit Comment
Jim Carrey's upcoming comedy "Pierre Pierre" may just happen, now that the project has become a hot pre-sale item at the Berlin Film Festival. Larry Charles (Borat) is on board to direct and will begin shooting this summer in Germany.

"Pierre Pierre" centers on a self-indulgent French nihilist (Carrey) who steals the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in the hope of selling it so he can finally move out of his parents house.

Fox initially acquired the script for $1 million and set Jason Reitman (Young Adult, Up in the Air) to direct. Reitman eventually dropped out and so did Fox. Now the project has new life with a $30 million budget.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

I remember when that was Carreys' salary alone.

Sure this isn't about Vindy's life?

So, the central character is apparently far too dumb, and far too unmotivated, to go rent a motel room, even, but he has the money, the time, to travel to Paris to one of the most heavily secured museums, to steal one of the world's most well-guarded paintings?

Excuse me while I cry, scream and stab myself in the neck, because someone paid a MILLION DOLLARS for this insipid f*cking script!

I get the feeling that Carrey didn't care about his films anymore, but maybe he's trying to come back to his funny roots in choosing to work with L. Charles. I just hope this movie doesn't go overboard with excessively trying to be funny..

Any body remember the Farrelly's ME, MYSELF & IRENE? Funny premise, but booooyyy, was that comedy overkill or what? The gross out kings plus a funny overactor...yikes!

Could be the same here, BORAT/ BRUNO kept pushing the uncomfortable boundaries of what's funny to the edge. Carrey also doesn't have a tendency to back off either. I don't know if they'll mesh together, but know that Charles/ Carrey comedy are fearless in trying to get a laugh. Hope a trailer brings some chuckles.

The script might be insipid but it sounds better than the one with the f*cking pinguins! As long he gets to be funny and make us laugh again, i don't really care what the story is about.

PS: Le Louvre is not limited only to the bloody Mona Lisa. It has other treasures as it is a huge museum. Really worth a visit in a lifetime.

Indeed Mr Bullitt, it is said that if one would see each object that the museum has for 3 seconds, you would be able to see all the museum objects in 2 1/2 years...

That is why I never managed to visit it entirely.

Cheers,

I lost all faith in Carrey. Yes Man was surprisingly funnier than expected. But career is almost over. His name is selling tickets and thats soon going to wear off.
