Peter Venkman to be Recast in "Ghostbusters 3"?

Peter Venkman to be Recast in "Ghostbusters 3"?Submit Comment
Empire magazine sat down with Dan Aykroyd to get an update on "Ghostbusters 3." The actor confirmed that there are role for both Bill Murray and Rick Moranis in the script, but he thinks only Moranis will return.

"[Murray and I] communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in 'Ghostbusters 3' has been made clear and I respect that," said Aykroyd, adding that he's not against completely recasting Murray's Peter Venkman character.

Regarding Moranis, Aykroyd is a bit more optimistic, despite the fact that Moranis has been retired for the last fifteen years. "If we can get the script to 'Ghostbusters 3' right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component," he explained. "None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant."

Direct to DVD ... why not use the AVATAR tech and make him full CGI? Bill Murray has grown past that 80s crap, not that those movies were crap, somewhat entertaining, but the guy has matured way better than those hacks that call themselves actors!

Watever happened to Rick moranis?

Saw him recently in Streets of fire.

Ahhh the 80s and 90s had some real awesome movies.

He enlarged him self quite a lot (using food)... and started voicing over pixar wannabe movies from Fox animation studios.

Rick Moranis guy dropped of the grid, If i remember right there were stories that he had died or something.

But that turned out to be Honey I Just Blew The Baby, Not a good career choice.

Bill Murray was The Ghostbusters (no offense Dan and Harold, but that's the truth). Even with Murray onboard I feel this project is doomed to be bad.

why can't they just forget about this sequel?donate the money to people dying from hunger or something.

The longer it takes them to move forward with this, the more I'm thinking they should just let it go and not do a third one.

Here's an idea Dan Aykroyd, come up with a new idea. The horse has been dead a long time so stop beating on it. If you can't think of an idea other than Ghostbusters or Blues Brothers than stop writing!

Rick More Anus still wants Honey I Shrunk the Kids to be rebooted with him starring in it.
minkowski writes:

I'll say what no one wants to hear: just reboot the f*cker. Much of the story was actually far more interesting in the two-season cartoon series.

Do that instead, with characters like Sam Hein, go darker, a little less Lester-Superman 2 goofy, because it isn't the 80s anymore, unfortunately, and people don't care for that kind of camp, so a new crew, same old car, firehouse, theme song but darker, a bit more grim, and clever this time.

You don't need those washed up nobodies, and you don't need Murray acting like he's too good to do the film.

Show him up, and move on, or don't make it because recasting a seventy year-old Murray, the comedic center of the original films, is the absolute dumbest thing you could EVER do, and bringing in Moranis? Why bother? No one cared for the unlovable dork to begin with.
Lulupendragon writes:

Could be worse. They could use the original concept where Peter dies and comes back as a ghost. lol

@Bandolero I hear ya about the 80s and 90s. I still <3 a lot of the movies from the 80's.

The francise needs to pass the torch...Murray probably is holding out due to the possible ridiculous plot or simple indifference...he actually did part 2 only because as he said, "they were waving too much money in my face."

Get Moranis out of retirement and give him a major plot point, make it that the guys are over their heads and need "new bloods" where Moranis brings in the new recruits (insert comedic actor/ writer names here) to help them out.

If Murray wants to stay away from this train wreck, let him (as one of the drafts included), he could be a ghost (CGI) that helps the guys or could be a pivotal role and just let him do the voice adding sarcastic jokes (it'll be a stretch for him)...

All this only if it's a story/ plot that will really propel the franchise into new territory with good, funny writing *Cough*Akroyd needs help*Cough*... I see great potential in this, IMHO.
CelluloidMan writes:

I would pay to see my version of this train wreck of a movie...

BTW, yeah, the ghost of Murray is really pushing it. I'm really reaching there...LOL.

It felt like Ghostbusters 5
They sure were in shape in the cartoon, they did alot of friggin running

They could do it without him and merely mention how he died.

He could play a ghost who gives the team valuable intel (cameo)

Bill is a jerk for holding this thing up.

I'd watch it without him, there are other funny people in the world. Others who love and would be respectful to the source material.

Rick Moranis used to say he'd love to do a GB tv series.
