George Lucas Says Han Solo Didn't Shoot First

Posted: February 10th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
George Lucas Says Han Solo DidnSubmit Comment
"Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace" is set to be re-released in 3D theaters on Friday (February 10th). THR caught up with George Lucas to talk about the franchise and asked him about the many controversies, including whether Han Solo or Greedo shot first.

Lucas explained: "The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in 'Episode IV,' what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn't. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down."

Below, we attached the original scene from "Episode IV," where Han Solo shoots first, and the Blu-ray release of the movie that shows Greedo pulling the trigger first.

No Lucas, nobody is necessarily pissed you put that Greedo shot first crap...people think you suck because nobody asked you to fix anything in the first place...the trilogy was fine the way it was..

That's it, moving on! Check the gates! That's a f*cking wrap!

I like Luke because he wanted to make it with his sister.

sell the franchise to james cameron or ur bum buddy stevie.

Makes perfect sence since Greedo was a bountyhunter and Han was a smuggler who to me seemed like a guy who avoids conflicts- though he always ended up in them..
Now let these movies rest in peace and start making the last Indiana movie.- Without Shia..

Nice back peddle George, but you're full of sh*t.

George "Raper of Childhoods" Lucas!

Hamill did have a hard on in that scene when Leia kissed him.
Ranger writes:

Sister or not... I would have plugged her.

As for George and this back-peddling...

Like he always said (AFTER the FIRST movie in '77 was a hit), that 3-trilogies was always the plan. That he had it all laid out. Sure, then why was Puke competing with Hand for Lay's affections?

George... shovel your fat chins elsewhere and retire you tug.

No new Star Wars movie

encoreyourface writes:
on February 9th, 2012 at 10:18:47 PM

that doesn't make sense considering Greedo was literally like two feet away from Han, and just knowing how to shoot a blaster should have enabled Greedo to blow Han's brains out. plus how the f*ck do you dodge a blaster round from that distance? if i remember correctly at this point in the series Han didn't believe the force was real, even then he isn't even a force sensitive. whatever ...

I truly believe that George Lucas doesn't understand the fans of Star Wars at all. It has nothing with wanting Han to be a cold-blooded killer. Partially it is keeping the movie original and part is that it sets the type of person Han is. He wasn't a killer, he was a smuggler doing his job.
DaveThePhotoGuy writes:

If Han didn't shoot first then him coming in and....

******spoiler alert*******

...helping Luke at the end means nothing.
Rambo writes:

The last triology should have been more focused on darth vader early days and less about anakin and his cgi compadres..
reyjose writes:

First off, it's George's movie and he can do what he wants with it and if people don't like it, too bad. Second, if people say "who cares" or whatever then "a" why are you reading it and "b" why are you commenting on it?
Damon242 writes:

He just can't help himself, can he?

Someone needs to show him that South Park episode...

Its not that we wanted Han to be a "cold-blooded killer" you tosser! just liked the idea he was smart enough to fire first. Lucas is a back tracking PG rated fag!!

mlodge87 writes:

No, you fat pompous pretentious meddling ass. There was no confusion. Everybody was happy with the original scene. Nobody walked away from that scene thinking 'man, that Han Solo is a psychopathic killer'. Nobody! Just release the originals on BD and make another 25 million and shut your fat face.
Dre-EL writes:

Have to say that I was one of those who prefered Han shoot first.

I dont think it made him a cold blooded killer, the rest of the movie redeems him of that, however, it does show that he is not a character to be messed with, and like all the other characters in that universe walk a thin line between the darkness and the light.

minkowski writes:

Inserting that digital laser blast bullsh*t to make it look like Greedo fied first is nothing more than revisionist history.

Lucas did the exact same thing with this film as Spielberg did in E.T. when Stevie digitally replaced the police rifles with walkie-talkies.

You're a f*cking LIAR, Lucas, a fat old useless f*ck.
Kurskij writes:

@ minkowski - Speilberg has since changed it back and regretted it! cant see Lucas waking up anytime soon.

Johnnyb writes:

Who cares who shot first. Even the day of today they are still asking who shot J.R. And Dallas is history, so Star Wars..... The real deal sh*t is still to come. f*ck it!!!!
Vlahka writes:

That scene isnt even real. Look at Hans head. Its blatantly CG. The skin texture, the hair, the dead gaze, and the way it moves so unrealistic. Aftre the smoke clears which is a few seconds later you can tell Hans head is different from the hair and even where its positioned. He just took a scene a changed it to fit how he'd like Han to be.
