Sullivan Stapleton is Lead in "300" SequelSubmit Comment
Sullivan Stapleton, who appeared in the 2010 Australian crime drama "Animal Kingdom," has been cast to star in the sequel to "300," called "300: Battle of Artemisia," which will be directed by Noam Murro (Smart People).

In the new movie, the Persian king-turned-god Xerxes leads an army against Greek forces, who have little training but are under the guidance of a general named Themistokles. The giant battle at the center of this film is supposed to occur at the same time as the fighting in "300."

THR claims that Stapleton will play Xerxes, while other sources say that he'll actually play Themistokles. Eva Green is on board as Artemisia. The plan is to begin filming soon.

Let's just hope that Eurybiades will be standing by his side during the fight scenes because Themistokles was a general & a politician but not necessarily a good fighter just like the Spartans were.

If not, I still have hopes on Eva Green.

Never knew the guy's name before this article, but he was a total badass on Strike Back so I'm pumped to see him in this sequel.

The name, I'm afraid, is Themistocles.

^ ^

In Greek it's with a K but in English or French it's with a c. Take your pick.

We're not Greek here, Bullit. We have jobs and a government.

They better have the Cave Lions! I read that during the invasion Xerxes supply train was ravaged by Cave Lions when they were trying to sneak through the Greek foothills. These cave Lions were the last hold-outs in Europe of these massive pre-history lions that lived in Europe and preyed on early mankind. As if the storms at sea and Leonidas weren't enough its like Xerxes pissed off Mother nature herself and she threw everything she had at the invading Persians!
