Marlon Wayans on Why He Isn't in "GI Joe 2"

Posted: February 7th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Marlon Wayans on Why He IsnSubmit Comment
"GI Joe: Retaliation" is set to hit theaters on June 29th, and while there are plenty of new actors in the cast, including Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis, most of the original cast is not coming back.

One of the actors who didn't make the cut is Marlon Wayans, who played Ripcord in the original. Wayans has now updated his Twitter account with an explanation as to why his character is not in the sequel. "No I am not in the 'GI Joe 2,'" he wrote. "Ripcord got shot in the face by friendly fire... His last words were 'ouch bitch'!"

The real reason why Ripcord isn't back has likely a lot to do with the fact that "GI Joe" has a lousy 33% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes and couldn't even earn back its budget domestically. AS a result, Johnson and Willis had to be brought in to give the franchise new life.

Alex, you forgot to mention Marlon Wayan's was quoted through an endless flow of tears. He must be still holding out for that Requiem for a Dream spin-off.

Marlon Wayans didn't do a great job as Ripcord.

I am happy that G.I Joe 2 has some parts of conutity with the first movie and it being a reboot.

I think Duke isn't going to be killed but instead be captured even if it happens then I would be happy that The Rock takes over the franchinse as the main lead.

I just hope Jon M. Chu keeps his promise that G.I. Joe will be hard and gritty and has less CGI and has more pratical effects.

I was amazed by the G.I JOe 2 trailer, it was way better than I expected.

Does Channing Tatum die early in the movie or not? I HOPE so. He is a freaking joke.

dude Kurt Russel is an old f*ck.His days are over like De Niro and Al Pacino.

@ technoreaper
yeah he dies early or leaves the movie Tatum's only shot his scenes in 2 weeks

Marlon Wayans needs to stick to his crappy comedies. He was horrible in this and he was even worse in the D&D movie.
SACdaddy writes:

This is the best thing to happen to GIJOE since they invented Kung Fu grip. I'll see this movie just because they made this move.

Cause no likes you Marlon, you suck donkey d*ck!
Plz let Tatum get killed early on.

@band - lol, luv the Lethal Weapon reference.

And maybe a break-dancing GI Joe wasn't written into the script.

"Ripcord got shot in the face by friendly fire... His last words were 'ouch bitch'!"

Marlon Wayans, a one-man, one-line, unfunny comedian.

"The real reason why Ripcord....give the franchise new life."

Doesn't make any sense. Movies that suck critically and financially just don't get sequels, e.g., The A-Team.

[StuntMan_MiKe] writes:

Too bad, this could have been his big break. The casting director was probably getting calls from the rest of the Wayans Bros. trying to get a part. Even with "new life" this film will burn.
bandolero999 writes:

I rather watch the sequel of gijoe anyday than that new spiderman.

Marlon wayans was hilarious in don't be a menace, little man, scary movies, white chicks.he needs mostly his brother for support
johnny_boy writes:

Least he seems to be a good sport about it. Would've been more fitting if he were to just say he sucked as Ripcord, you know keep it real, like how all black people like to keep it.
Powdered Toast Man writes:

Ripcord's character sucked. The script sucked. The story sucked. The movie made no money so why bother with a sequel?!?!!?
OneTime writes:

^^^ yeah i agree. one of the worst films ever.
CeeZ writes:

For those of you spreading false information, this movie actually netted a lot more than what the producers & investors spent on it, hence the reason why they're willing to invest in the sequel. Fyi, here's the source for your rumor spreading minds->
