There's a lot going on with the Indonesian action film "The Raid" that won the audience award at TIFF's Midnight Madness. Sony Pictures Classics is planning to release the film in the US next month with a new soundtrack by Mike Shionda or Linkin Park. And is also developing a sequel, which will begin shooting at the end of this year with Gareth Evans returning to direct.
But the studio (Screen Gems) has even bigger plans. It is also remaking "The Raid" for American audiences and has hired Brad Ingelsby to write the script. Ingelsby doesn't have much of a resume, but his "The Low Dweller" screenplay made Hollywood's Black List. He also recently sold the script "Run All Night" to Warner Bros.
"The Raid" tells the story of a SWAT team that becomes trapped in an apartment building run by a ruthless mobster, armed with two highly violent martial arts killers and an army of machete-swinging, machine gun-toting dealers and thugs.

This movie was INSANE. I don't think the U.S. can make a remake, Not with OSHA around. in Asia, if you cant fall out a three story building with out fall protection your not stunt man. The stunt men in Asia take it to a whole other level...
i'm just saying...

It's called CGI. You must have never seen Spiderman 1 2 or 3. Hint: that wasn't a real person swinging through out Manhattan.
The American version, would have to be toned down, I think. Like that scene where one guy gets taken down with 3 close range shots to the head wouldn't translate well. I'm really looking forward to see the original, seeing some films out of the Hollywood crap machine is always refreshing...
