Live-Action "Stretch Armstrong" Movie Gets a Release Date

Live-Action "Stretch Armstrong" Movie Gets a Release DateSubmit Comment
We've been hearing that Hasbro's "Stretch Armstrong" toy may one day be turned into a live-action movie, and now comes word from Relativity Media and Hasbro that they will develop "Stretch Armstrong" for a April 11th, 2014 release.

"'Stretch Armstrong' is a great example of Hasbro's rich portfolio of intellectual properties that we are continuing to develop globally," said Hasbro. "We are excited to partner with Relativity on this movie as they are a growing and innovative studio."

"Stretch Armstrong" is the classic action hero figure first launched by Hasbro in 1976 and re-launched in the 90's, sold successfully throughout North America and in markets across the world. The original Stretch's unique design broke free of traditional action figures, as he could be stretched over and over and always returned back to his original size. The nostalgic toy is considered to be rare and collectible to this day.

Two years ago, Rob Letterman (Monsters vs Aliens, Shark Tale) was in talks to direct and Taylor Lautner (Twilight) was in talks to star.

Again with the Lautner kid!? The guy didn't cut it in the action color-by-number movie Abduction...the suits need to understand this guy without the Pattison/ Stewart "mania" is not really bankable. Also being a stretchable, out there character, humor would need to be big in that thing, for which again, I don't see as one of Lautner's strengths...sorry, but I think the kid isn't ready for the big time yet...

I am at a loss for words.

Not the words I would have chosen to describe this project.

And, yes, with Lautner in the lead this will be an instant fail. He's trying to break free from his Twilight fanbase and become an actionstar, but that will not happen because no one wants him there.

All said without a hint of self-deprecation. Amazing.

I'm going to stretch my d*ck and throw it into some lucky broad, instead of watching this.
