How is Drive only nominated on here for sound editing? Better than most of the sh*tty movies on this list.
Damon242 writes:

Yawn.

I love how 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' has only scored a 48% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and yet is nominated for Best Picture.

Pretty happy with this list. Nick Nolte deserves his nomination. 'The Tree of Life' and 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' are finally recognized.
Damon242 writes:

I bet you 'The Artist' will be this year's 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Again, yawn. I would expect just nominating a film based on its novelty to be something only the Golden Globes do.
dregstudios writes:

The Academy certainly went with much higher brow nominees this year which I think will lose them a large portion of their young audience. After doing better at being in touch with the public the past two years, these stiff nominees just fall flat. I usually have something in common with the choice but not this year- if the contenders seem stuffy to you, check out my own Top 10 Movie Picks of 2011 at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/01/top-10-movie-picks-of-2011.html where you won’t see a single of the Academy’s nominees for Best Picture!

Best Picture: No 'Tinkor' or 'Drive' but 'Loud and Close'? f*ck off!

Directing: Have only seen 'The Tree of Life' and it sucks, but I can't complain directionwise.

Actor: C'mon Gary! You can do it and you deserve it!

Actress: Really don't care, but I wish Streep all the worst.

Supp Actor: Too bad Albert Brooks isn't there, but Go Sweden Go Max!

Supp Actress: Well, I'm glad that pure comedies are finally getting recognition, but Melissa McCarthy didn't play any new character, really. The filthy big woman have been done before.

Animation: In the abscence of Tintin, Rango for the win.

Jonah Hill and Nick Nolte's nomination was ridiculous. So was Melissa McCarthy. Were they spreading money around to promote Bridesmaids or what? She was funny, but not best supporting actress worthy. I've seen funnier comedians get totally ignored by the Oscars. As for Nick Nolte, I barely remembered him in Warrior. That is an absolute joke, because it was Nick Nolte at his laziest. He's done better. I foresee the ratings going even lower this year.

Oh yeah, Midnight in Paris was overrated like heck. Massively.
kBob writes:

Come the f*ck on, if you're not going to nominate Drive for best picture at the very least nominate Albert Brooks for best supporting role. Snubbed. The Oscars are a complete sham. No Muppets, no 50/50, no Tilda Swinton. Crap Crap and f*cking horse sh*t.
j-man writes:

No drive, no senna for doc*mentry! Extremely loud and bridesmaid getting noms, even war horse in best picture, that film had more cheese than i do on my d*ck!
f*cking joke!!! And f*ck streep!
technoreaper writes:
on January 24th, 2012 at 7:09:14 PM

I'm glad the Oscars snubbed Drive. Thankfully, they observed the movie was basically a pretentious version of The Transporter. If the Oscars actually gave Drive a nomination, the Globes might as well have nominated the Transporter and Crank then, lol. People are so stupid.
Damon242 writes:
on January 24th, 2012 at 7:43:59 PM

@technoreaper

There's a difference between idea and execution though, in terms of 'The Transporter' and 'Drive'.
technoreaper writes:
on January 24th, 2012 at 7:47:00 PM

Having seen Refn's other movies, I think it's safe to say that the guy is a pretentious hack. There was nothing special about Drive. If McG made that movie, people would have panned it and called it a typical McG movie. However apparently, Refn is some sort of demi-god to the elitist film community. Ridiculous.
DexterMorgan writes:

is the artist any good, haven't got a chance to see it yet
Sleuth1989 writes:
on January 24th, 2012 at 8:01:48 PM

So instead of nominating Harry Potter for Best Picture, which got critical acclaim, you put up extremely loud and incredibly close, a film that was critically panned. So on that logical why didn't "Remember Me" get nominated a couple years ago you morons?
MrHeck writes:
on January 24th, 2012 at 8:06:53 PM

Nick Nolte all the way.

I havn't seen most of the movies on this list, but Warrior should've got more nominations.

I frankly can't get all the hype with Drive. I saw the movie; the pacing was so damn slow that i literally fell asleep.

Boring as f*ck.
TheGreatpersuader writes:
