Rob Marshall on "Pirates of the Caribbean 5"

Rob Marshall on "Pirates of the Caribbean 5"Submit Comment
Disney started working on the script for "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" before "On Stranger Tides" was even in theaters. The fourth film ended up being trashed by critics (33% on RottenTomatoes), but grossed over $1 billion in theaters.

Now in an interview with THR, "On Stranger Tides" director Rob Marshall hinted that he will return for the fifth movie and gave a status update, confirming that producer Jerry Bruckheimer didn't like the first "Pirates 5" draft.

"Terry [Rossio] is writing it and he's working incredibly hard. He did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again," said Marshall. "You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not, there's no reason to do it. I know Johnny feels the same way: He needs to see a script, but he would be happy — if it's the right script — to put that hat and sword back on."

Good script my ass! Those Disney execs don't give a rat's ass about a goddamn script. As long as the movie generating a truckload of cash, The don't care if the script is made from a pile of Johnny depp's sh*t.

I dont know about killing Jack Sparrow the first scene but get some one else in there to share the f*cking screen with him thats A. worth half a sh*t B. who doesnt show up 45 minutes in and has less dialogue then Cotton the Tongueless pirate.

There are a 1,043,871,802 reasons why there will be a Pirates 5, But a good script isn't one of them.

Pirates 4 was boring so if Dinsey gets the script right then I wouldn't mind a fifth Pirates movie.

I don't like the idea of killing Jack Sparrow, I mean Johnny Depp plays the role well despite the script being sh*t.

I bet you Gordon GEKKO is the Disney Exec ! Greed is good, f*ck the script ! Let's make some money...

Why God?? The 4th one I fell asleep on, actually I didn't think anything could get worse than the 3rd one was, boy was I wrong!

The words "script" and "Disney" shouldn't even be in the same dimension.

I understand this half-drunk/mentally challenged pirate thing was appealing for his kids, but seriously 5 movies??

And indeed in terms of a story this is pure and simple bullsh*t!
minkowski writes:

And all this from an amusement park ride.

Can you imagine the money Disney would make if they actually had a story?
mlodge87 writes:

It won't matter if it is worse than the 3rd or 4th movies. At this point, it is self-sustaining. They can just have Depp running around in circles babbling for 2 hours and it would still somehow make a billion worldwide.

I was in Haiwaii when they were filming these movies, and could actually see the Black Pearl from my back porch. Up close that thing is pretty damn cool.

Its a shame the 4th one was bad and so will the 5th one most likely. They really need to just stop already. Desperate as they are, they're only hurting themselves for the future.
minkowski writes:

Just curious, but how is Diney hurting themselves in the future by producing films that generate billions at the BO?
Doc Gonzo writes:

Those movies ended being good after the first one... Don't they have another rollercoaster in Disneyland they can make into a movie?

Well, to answer your question, here's a list of all the films you can expect from Disney in the future:

If the Pirates of the Caribbean movies weren't good than why is it one of the highest grossing franchises of all time?

^What do you get when an entire nation of retarded people make films?.. The few of you that aren't retarded make good films, none of you care to see them. The many of you that are retarded make retarded films and everyone sees them, because most of you are retarded.

Handicapped retards...

I blame it on a surplus of Mexicans.

MadHatter writes:

At least they are re-writing the script for Pirates of the Caribbean 5, if they felt like the first script for the fifth movie didn't look to good to them.
