AMC Developing "Goodfellas" TV SeriesSubmit Comment
AMC, the home of such hit series as "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad" and "The walking Dead," is now developing a series version of Martin Scorsese's 1990 film "Goodfellas." Nicholas Pileggi, who wrote the movie based on his own non-fiction book "Wiseguy," is on board to co-write the TV adaptation.

Scorsese's "Goodfellas" stars Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, and follows the rise and fall of the Lucchese crime family associate Henry Hill (Liotta) and his friends from 1955 to 1980.

The film was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Pictures and director, and won one, for best supporting actor (Pesci). It has a 97% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

AMC must think they are unstoppable. Honestly breaking bad is great, walking was awesome but now its starting to lose its momentum. Frank really was the heart if that serious, I personally feel that it wont last much longer than HERO'S four seasons at most. And hell on wheels is just f*cking slow. Its a waste of talent with such good actors like Colm Meaney and company. I say this is set up for epic failure. Madmen works because it had a interesting take plus nothing was on at the time that resembled it. But now they are just f*cking stupid. This wont work. We already had a bad ass mobster series called the sopranos

This can work, but a tv series will not have the kineticism of Scorsese's work and that means it may not be anything like the film. Which will piss a lot of fans off.

@Brody: I'm already pissed off !

A mafia story cannot be shown on TV ! Way too violent, way too graphic ! Not to mention that all the cast from the original movie will be an insult to them.

This is plain stupidity.

No way they can get a cast to be half as good as the movie. Plus like other said, if its on regular cable it will be to handicapped to be good.

So they just have to have their own Sopranos, huh? And they have to do it by f*cking with Goodfellas, which was a completely close-ended story? Whatever. Like they can recapture the cinematography or the casting of the Scorsese film.
