Richard Schiff is Dr. Hamilton in "Man of Steel"Submit Comment
Richard Schiff, the Emmy Award-winning actor know for his roles in "Se7en," "Jurassic Park 2," and "ER," has been cast in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Superman" reboot, called "Man of Steel," which has been filming in Vancouver and Chicago.

Warner Bros says that he is playing Dr. Hamilton. After a quick look on Wikipedia, it turns out that Professor Emil Hamilton is a fictional human character in DC Comics world. He is generally portrayed as a stereotypical absent-minded professor, with a gray beard and thick glasses. However, recent versions of the character have been more villainous as he begins to see Superman as a potential threat to the world.

The character appeared on such animated series as "Justice League" and "Superman," and such TV series as "Smallville" and "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman."

I'm glad that you state that he's a fictional character. We would've been so confused otherwise.

@Rambo:

Seth Rogen explained in an interview that George LUCAS is persuaded, like for real, that the end of the wolrd is bound to happen in 2012. Lucas explained it with incredible details while Spielberg was there as well and he couldn't roll his eyes out. Coming from Lucas, it sounds he really lost the plot in his life. Sad ending.

@Freudian_Nightmare - Nice one, my thought exactly! :)

They already screwed this film with the Zod casting. It's gonna suck, just not as bad as the previous one.

Ahh... Variety. You mention his resume containing Jurassic Park f*cking II, but you leave it out he was a principal actor in The West Wing?!?!?!

So, we have another potential villain that's not remotely a match for the Man of Steel?

What good is it to have a classical antagonist/protagonist dichotomy if the antagonist(s) are entirely asymmetrical to the protagonist?!

Sure, it works in Transformers, when you have thirty decepticons to ten Autobots, because the scale creates easy tension, in lieu of smart script writing, but in this Superman reboot, we have four or five wimps opposed to a man that can move worlds, a literal god, so even if you sum over the villains, you still fall short of the desire villain critical mass!

With, say, Doomsday, as found in the comic books, the asymmetry was reversed, much to the Justice League's and Superman's consternation, so why not do that with Man of Steel instead?

Stupid!

Still dunno bout this movie.
LEONCIO writes:

@Mink: The main villains are supossed to be General Zod and other kryptonians that are as powerful as Supes or even more since they have the same powers but are also trained warriors from Krypton's army, they should be a match for the Man Of Steel while the writers don't resort to an stupid end like the one from Superman 2.
minkowski writes:

Yes, I do know that, Leoncio, though I was under the impression that Superman gained his powers SLOWLY, like Goku in Dragonball (Japan's Superman myth), not all at once, so if we accept that Zod and company come storming out of the Phantom Zone, or where-ever, they won't have the time to acclimate to Earth's sun and thus they won't have his powers.

They would just be ordinary Kryptonians with the powers gained from living under a red sun, or whatever light source they have in the Phantom Zone.

Not sure how they did this in comics, though as I recall New Krypton was within earth's orbit, and Zod was a mere Kryptonian general until he had time to gain Superman's power levels, and even THEN, he was ultimately no match for Superman.

And I disregard Superman 2 almost entirely. Lester's comedic attempts do such vast damage to Donner's vision that I have to remind myself that no matter what, there's only one truly good Superman film.
