George Clooney's "Gravity" Space Film Gets Plot Synopsis

Warner Bros has unveiled the official plot synopsis for the upcoming "Gravity" sci-fi film, directed by Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), and stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.

Plot: Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Besides the unusual duo of a cast, this sounds like a very intense Sci-Fi by the very underrated Alfonso Cuaron.

Well I thought his Harry Potter movie was the best of the bunch. This could be cool. Hopefully Sandra Bullock shows some space beaver.

Wasn't Robert Downy Jr. attached to this one before, with a dozen different actresses vying for the female role? Anyway, I would have went with unknowns for this one. sh*tty casting.

Clooney's only great space flick will always be Solaris.

Glad it's finally getting made.

interesting

not sure bout bullock though but we'll see....cant see her in a sci-fi like this.

time will tell....bring on a trailer then we'll talk

Plot sounds interesting but like you are all saying bullock.... what horrible casting.

@Avirex Have yoou seen the original solaris? Because it makes clooneys remake look like a steaming turd.

i'm starting a business shooting terminally ill people, into deep space, in a capsule loaded with morphine and optional hallucinogens, and fog macine.

Hm, they won't be having sex then ?

Sounds interesting even without the hanky panky...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the only great HP movie. (i've never read books, and i think every other HP movie is overrated).

And Alfonso is great - Children Of Men is superb movie.

Story for this is meh for now. And this plot moment "last flight before retiring" needs to GTFO. That and Sandra Bullock.

@Avirex

That is also not true. Watch the Russian original Solaris, it's miles better than that crap with Clooney

Sounds interesting actually

Besides drowining in the vast ocean alone

I am sure drifting away in space, alone to die would be the worst!

Clooney needs to go to space in real life and just stay the f*ck away from Earth and not bother anyone.

Peter Parker writes:

"mmmm..... Not what I expected!!!!!"

- It's a sci-fi film called "Gravity", what did you expect, a movie about male rectal prolapsing?

f*ckwad.
minicooperz writes:

seems interesting enough. it looks to be one step higher to the film "love" where the astronaut there was alone (whereas here at least there's 2 of them).
minkowski writes:

So, basically Buried 2.

Crazyhorse writes:

Well Clooney is in it so I wont see it

and

there is an extremely high chance of this being another Clooney flop that he will probably recieve another Oscar nomination and another Hollywood Man of the year award
Johnnyb writes:

@ Peter Parker:

In case, you didn´t undertstand why I try to say, f*cker. I mean a different plot. I already know it was a scifi film!!!!!
Peter Parker writes:
on December 19th, 2011 at 7:13:31 PM

Oh! Now it makes sense. That was "why" you were trying to say.
Yup, that cleared it right up.

So, basically, this wasn't what you were expecting, because you were expecting something different.
I see.

Thank you, Dorothy.
PhantomCloneInX writes:

The casting seems okay, but not too exciting. The storyline sounds spooky...and I do enjoy Cuaron's work. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
Bunny X writes:

Wasn't this done out at sea?
Still, the thought is unnerving. And with Clooney in it, he'll deliver the intensity of a seemingly calm and cool veteran broken down by the fear of that situation.
Interested

Yeah, it was called Open Water, and it sucked.

I got stuck out in open water once... terrifying. Didn't see the movie because I lived it.
