David Fincher Planning to Shoot "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" Sequels Back-to-Back

David Fincher Planning to Shoot "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" Sequels Back-to-BackSubmit Comment
David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is based on the first book of a best-selling trilogy. And while Sony is hoping to eventually bring all three films to the big screen, the studio has yet to re-sign Fincher, who is more than happy to return as long as he can shoot the next two installments together.

"Classically movie studios don't make deals with director even if there's a hope that there's going to be 3 [films], because they want to make sure that you behave," Fincher explained. "But yes, the second two books are very much one story. It doesn't seem prudent to me to go to Sweden for a year, come back for a year, put out the second one, go to Sweden for a year, go back for a year."

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has already been screened for critics and has a 94% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes. There is plenty of Oscar buzz around the film, which means that unless it completely bombs in theaters, Fincher will likely be able to complete the trilogy.

Classic example of how hollywood is just in it for the dough. The original films were fine, I don't get how they are gonna be any different.

As I am from Sweden, it'll be interesting to see how Sweden and its residents will be portrayed.
I also got to work as an extra in this one: I was riding the train with Daniel Craig and I shook hands with David Fincher :)

They will probably be portrayed as depressing and humourless people, as that is how Sweden is usually portrayed. Not including Inga, of course.

All I can say is that I hated the original and the book. Fincher has also become less interesting and Swedish accent they showed in the trailer was really off putting. So I'm not that psyched about this.

Would love to see Fincher take on a fantasy/comic book movie blockbuster type of film...Give him Batman after Nolans finished.

The original, "Män som hatar kvinnor", was good but extremely overrated. I think that the American version will be beyond more interesting and its theme is more suitable as an American film. Besides, I think that Mara Rooney is way hotter than Noomi Rapace..

Whats so special about these books?

Dunno but I've been urged to read them more than once now.

There's nothing special about these books. Nothing. Their success couldn't surprise me more. They are very standard, Scandinavian mystery books. Do they have a unusual heroinne? Yes. But unusual can't be substituted with good. She's strong and does it her own way, she doesn't rely on a man to save her. That's all well, but she's also has the mindset of a whiny teenager in a women's body with father-issues. Ellen Ripley. Sarah Connor. That's strong heroinnes, without the whinyness.

And if you have not read the book, I challenge you: watch the trailer and guess who the killer is. It's just as easy to guess in the book, but the book is 500 pages long.

I doubt the first movie coming out next week will make any money. It's going to be a disaster, coming out during Christmas week against a whole slew of top movies. Oh yeah, it's R-rated too and 3 hours long. There are more reasons NOT to see this movie, than to see it.

The first two books were decent but the third books was just f*cking terrible. So boring.
