"Drive" Author Writing Sequel Book

"Drive" Author Writing Sequel BookSubmit Comment
Many may not know that Ryan Gosling's "Drive" is based on a book by James Sallis. Now that the film has become a modest hit and will likely get recognized during awards season, Sallis decided to write a sequel, called "Driven."

Sallis confirmed the news, stating that the book will be out in April. Poisoned Pen Press refused to put out a full-length plot synopsis, but did release a brief one. "Six years later - Phoenix. Out of nowhere someone wants Driver dead. Who? Why? Big mistake..."

There's no word whether the book will also be turned into a feature film, but I believe many would agree that a sequel to "Drive" movie is not necessary. It felt just right as a stand-alone story.

Question: Are you interesting in seeing Gosling return for "Drive" sequel?

Saw "Drive" a few days ago. One of the best surprises I had this year. Solid interpretations, captivating story, minimalistic - but efficient - soundtrack. Strongly recommend it.

P.S.: Needed more bewbs, though.

@bando

Yeah this flick definitely saved him from simply being known as the guy from 'Notebook' for the rest of his life.

If they make another it should also be a stand alone film but with a different actor though. Basically the same spirit of the first film but not necessarily connected. Okay f*ck it, just don't make it at all.

a sequel is not needed but if it was made with the same writers and directors and gosling was involved the continuation of the tale of the driver would be pretty cool. movies about characters that have no real back story are usually pretty awesome movies.

I think, if people really believe that the climax didnīt close as what expected and the main character has the possibilities to explore further on explaining what he really is and why do he become of what his is today, then I recommend it for a sequel in other case, just work perfect as stand alone movie!!!!!

For once im gonna step up and i say.. this really doesnt need a sequel, i could see this being a stand alone film..

Drive was one of my favorite movies this year. I wouldn't want a movie sequel without the book sequel. It still means that the new film is based off the source material. And that jacket is sweet....

And since everyone is pointing out the obvious, The movie is amazing, in my personal top 3 of the year. Just saying :P

Didn't like Drive at all. And no, i wasn't expecting CGI explosion action fest...
