the Oscar's have kind of lost what little importance they had left, now that they've opened up the best picture category to so many films.

Judging from the picture above, WP seems to favor Caesar and the apes. While it is a very good and in some way even believable movie which put story over effects, the CGI just never really went away.
If the Academy decides to go in a different direction for a change (away from big budget winners like Avatar, Inception or Benjamin Button), the Tree of Life could have a change. It's a long shot, though.

Well, judging by the movies I have seen I would say either Apes or *shudder* Transformers.

The future of CGI, after Avatar's achievements, will be making the work indistinguishable from everything that is real.

So the question is, did any of these films achieve that?

My consideration for the 10 who past for the next level are:
Captain America: The First Avenger, Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, Real Steel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Sucker Punch, Transformers, X-Men, Thor and Hugo.... And the other ones can SUCK IT BIG TIME!!!!!

I would be surprise if Cowboys and Aliens win this one. On the other hand, knowing those retards at Oscar, I wouldn't be surprise if Tree of Life or Hugo win the award.

All very good visually but Sucker Punch should win for its sheer coolness.

Not my choices, but what I predict will get the nominations. Though I do think Rise of the Planet of the Apes has a chance.

happy about this category because even if the movie sucked, the visual crew gets a lot of credit. well not a lot.... enough for an award.
