George Miller Planning New "Mad Max" Trilogy

George Miller Planning New "Mad Max" TrilogySubmit Comment
George Miller was set to begin filming "Mad Max 4: Fury Road" last year, but due to unexpected rains, an Australian desert was turned into a lush garden. The plan now is to begin shooting in April in Namibia, and if everything works out, the director has a whole new "Mad Max" trilogy ready to go.

"We started with ['Fury Road'], but we then started to do a second story and a third," he explained. "We've written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters."

Producer Doug Mitchell added that "Fury Road" has a massive budget. "It's confidential but it's massive," he hinted. "If it's above $100 million it's a big budget. This is a bigger budget. People have speculated around $200 million [which] I'd neither deny nor confirm. It's a massive film."

Really hope it kicksass the first was classic material.

Don't know if it needs to be massive. The biggest of the original ones was Thunderdome and it was easily the worst of them.

Bigger isn't always better.

mehh I smell a flop. Besides, No Mel gibson means no mad max.
Kurskij writes:

^ yep

The bigger the budget, the louder the flop.

George Miller&Company need a hit after reportedly $150+ mil. "Happy feet 2" tap danced on their balls with it's poor performance.

$200mil budget WTF

Agree with Freud here, bigger is not always better (keep telling the wife the samething)

The Road Warrior is still one of the best sequels ever and that was made for very little money as was the original.

I try to forget all about Beyond Thunderdome and it's big hollywood budget

Kurskij

Yeah mate they got lucky with the original Happy Feet movie and it's massive Boxoffice take, They should have left it at that and said thanks for the cash ....

^^^All the above indicates another 'Thunderdome' PG-13 crapfest.

How the hell do you start on one script and end up with three, and then to compound an unprofessional work habit (not finishing one script before starting another, and waiting to see if the first film succeeds) with another, you dump a reputed 200 mil on a project without an audience? Who's going to watch this sh*t? Mad Max fans in their 30s, 40s and 50s? Who else?

even Pirates of the Caribbean was a very successful theme park attraction with the acking of Disney, one of the most lucrative companies in the world. And even they waited to see how the first film fared before they sunk down two more. With the Mad Max films far back in the rear view mirror of cinematic history, it's not enough to say they're making a fourth film on the heels of three recent successes. They're essentially starting over!

Dumb.

Eve I bet melt shows up on set one day during filming. Drives up in a replica of the original car...swirving wildly. Crashes into the food cart and falls out of the car. Drunk as a skunk and spewing racist and anti Jew statements while he takes his pants off and insists that he and Tom hardy compare d*ck sizes.

minkowski writes:

"he and Tom hardy compare d*ck sizes."

And then Mel promptly f*cked Hardy in the ass while calling him a Dirty Jew.

The last live-action film Miller did was the Babe sequel. I worry about rusty skills more than the budget.
