"Harry Potter" Director Working on "Doctor Who" Film

"Harry Potter" Director Working on "Doctor Who" FilmSubmit Comment
"Harry Potter" director David Yates has revealed that he is teaming up with BBC to turn the sci-fi TV series "Doctor Who" into a big screen franchise. Work on the project has already started.

"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right. It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena," he said. "The notion of the time-traveling Time Lord is such a strong one, because you can express story and drama in any dimension or time."

"Doctor Who" follows the adventures across space and time of a super-intelligent alien in human form, who battles a variety of cosmic bad guys aided by plucky human companions.

"We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the 'Potter' films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too," added Yates.

Another time travel movie? Boooriiing. What a ridiculous idea. It only works well as a television show. and not even relating it to the tv show is just pointless. I can't see it doing well at all.

Never say never!
They should get Russel Davies and Steven Moffat to collab on this. Lock them in a room for 3 years and see what they come up with.

f*cking hate "Doctor Who" Tennant was the worst and Moffat was the worst writer to do it.

The new series is ok but some of it still sucks.

And they should in no way do a movie, if they were to do a movie wait for the last Doctor they are number 11 now.

Doctor Who just isn't the same with a decent size production budget ....

Ok, now tell me this how you gonna explain the incarnation of the doctor. This better work at least from 4 to 7 movies. Because is that not the case. Then f*ck it and leave the TV series in peace!!!!!

They've already made a Doctor Who TV movie in 1996... It starred such craptastic actors as Eric Roberts and Will Sasso... Yes the guy from MAD TV, and some other unknowns. All centered around Y2K. The only way i see this working is if they make it like one LONG drawn out episode... HOPEFULLY ending with the Doctor regenerating into someone better. I mean that's how they switched Sylvester McCoy out for Paul McGann. But question is... Who will play Who? Matt Smith? Cause a hour and a half of him going on like some kid all wigged out on Reese Pieces and Mountain Dew could get rather tiresome. It could work but only as a means to change out the actors playing the Doctor. OR make up some fantastical story, in which ALL the time streams collide causing the world to come to the brink of ending, and some how bring together every living Doctor... Wait that might be a bit much. No they wouldn't do that. But 8 of the 11 are still kicking.

Regardless of how crappy or good this flick is, I'll watch it. I mean i sat through 2 seasons of Matt Smith already, so how could a another half hour be any worse?

OR they go back and do a origin story, prequel thing. Explain the Doctor's life prior to stealing the TARDIS. I mean you have a lot of material there. His backstory with The Master, how Gallifrey was destroyed... Hell finally show the HUGE battle that destroyed everyone... They have talked about it enough. Who knows?
