"Traffic" Writer Hired to Fix M. Night Shyamalan's "One Thousand AE" Script

"Traffic" Writer Hired to Fix M. Night ShyamalanSubmit Comment
M Night Shyamalan has been the sole writer on his first nine films that he directed, but his latest project, called "One Thousand AE," was penned by Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli). Shyamalan ended up re-writing the script to fit his needs, but that wasn't enough for Columbia Pictures.

Looking at Shyamalan's recently flops, the studio decided to hire Stephen Gaghan (Syriana, Traffic) to fix up his work and to get the script ready for a February start date. Shyamalan will direct the film, which is set to hit theaters on June 7th, 2013.

In the movie, Will Smith and his son Jaden are set to star as a father and son who crash-land on Earth one thousand years after mankind has abandoned the planet. The crash leaves the elder Smith badly injured, and it's up to the boy to find help in what is now a strange and dangerous place.

Recent flops? Like what movie would you consider to be flops? Well I hope this rewriting of this movie would be a good move.

Shyamalan is just like an anti midas. Everything he touches is instantly turned into a pile of sh*t.

@Supersweetguy
1. The Last Airbender didn't stay true to the cartoon.FAIL!
2. The Happening had Mark acting like a pu$$y during the whole movie.Fail!
3. I haven't even seen the last one.But judging from those 2,i could only imagine what kinds of crap was in it.Fail!(most likely)

Since both father and son are acting in this one and recently too much hate for the two after Smith try to put the whole family in the business, moreover I see it a flop!!!!!!

God damn Shyamalan himself has got to be thinking why he keeps getting hired over and over again

Shamalamadingdongs movies suck. The Happening was possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Acting was f*cking terrible and the ending was worse.

The last airbender made $319,713,881 worldwide,thats hardly a flop.

that being said,the movie sucked big time and the idea of putting will smith and his retarded son in a movie together is a flop to begin with.i would cancel the project before it starts shooting and ask shaymalan to write a different script for different actors.
DaveThePhotoGuy writes:

Don't mind Shamalamadingdong...but if he had any brains he would drop out of this.

He will have not comtrol at all. All the control will be in Jada's hands.

Come on guys think back of sixth sense, unbreakable and the village. Shyamalan is a brilliant director he can create an atmosphere like no other BUT and now the big BUT he sucks horribly at script writing. All his good movies were written and produces by someone else. His so called flops and I totally agree on "airbender" and "Happening" those movies sucked a lot I havent seen "lady/girl in the water" dont know its title, but my point is all his flops were written, produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Now dont let him write scripts on his own and dont let him produce this man needs to be controlled^^ then he delivers great stuff, let him loose and he is likely to produce major sh*t.

Just my opinion. When I went to see Airbender and the intro came up saying written, directed and produced by Shyamalan, I thought "Oh f*ck this will probably suck and it did..." :( I really like the anime though

Will & Jayden, Schmill & Schmayden.. Why does Shyamalan look like MJ after banging Brooke Shields on Grammy night?
BlueMobius writes:

And at the end of the film they'll realize that it isn't 1,000 years in the future but that they just landed in a remote part of America mere moments after they launched. Saw it on Twilight Zone and I'd be downright surprised if this isn't going to go the same way. It's not a twist when you can predict it!

This might be a hit cause Smiths movies make a retarded amount of money like Sandler movies and Tyler Perry

Shyamalan, when translated from Hinu to English roughly means "sucky movie maker"

Devil
The Last Airbender
The Happening
Lady in the Water

Get ready to add this one to the list.

@JAKE VERMONT

M. Night Shyamalan was nominated for multiple oscars for screenplay and directing. ALL HIS GOOD MOVIES (i.e. Sixth sense and unbreakable and signs) were written BY HIM. His script writing may have taken a major backslide in recent years, but all his early brilliant work WAS WRITTEN BY HIM for which he was nominated for an academy award.
vaodsi writes:

As for flops... hollywood doesn't care if a movie is good... all they see are dollar signs. From that perspective the last airbender, the happening and devil were NOT flops AT ALL. They all sucked but did not lose money. They made back double their budget and then some. The only film that he has made that was a financial train wreck was lady in the water.

I thought Devil was an interesting movie even though I was able to predict which one of the people stuck in the elevator was the devil.
