"Tower Heist" Cannot Top "Puss in Boots" This Weekend

"Tower Heist" Cannot Top "Puss in Boots" This WeekendSubmit Comment
"Puss in Boots" was able to stay on top at the domestic box office this weekend by grossing another $33 million, which is just a 2% drop from its $34 million debut. That is the smallest drop ever for a non-holiday title, beating the previous record-holder "Twister," which dipped 10% in its second weekend.

"To have a hold at this level is extraordinary," said DreamWorks. "Puss in Boots" has now grossed $75.5 million domestically in just 10 days. It is still holding on to a very impressive 81% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

All early predictions placed "Tower Heist," starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, as the clear winner. But the heist comedy had to settle for second place with $25 million, which is what Universal Pictures expected, but hoped to be closer to $30 million. The film has a fresh rating of 69% and cost around $85 million to make. It will likely make back its budget.

The other new wide release of the weekend was "A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas," which had a disappointing $13.1 million debut, well behind the projected $18 million. Even "Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay" opened to $14.9 million back in 2008. The comedy has a 73% fresh rating and cost only $20 million to make, which means that it will go on to become profitable.

And while US audiences are still waiting for Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin" to hit theaters, overseas, the animated film has already grossed $125 million.

Puss In Boot seems like a good family movie, I mean the character is popular.

I think Puss In Boots is a suprise hit because some people though it flop baldy.

Horror

I guess after Meet Dave and Imagine That he couldn't get any lower.

As we have all said on here before 80's Eddie was so much funnier and dare i say cooler too.
