"The Dark Tower" TV Series Coming to HBOSubmit Comment
Producer Brian Grazer just revealed that Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" is moving forward, despite the fact that the adaptation of very ambitious and was recently dropped by Universal Pictures.

Grazer, director Ron Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman are looking to turn "The Dark Tower" into a trilogy with two TV series that will air in between the films. The problem has always been the massive budget, which was recently lowered by $45 million.

MTV now caught up with Grazer to find out if any distributors boarded the project. "We're going to do ['The Dark Tower'] with HBO," he said regarding the two TV series. "We'll do the TV with HBO, and we'll do the movie with... to be determined. We'll do it right."

Howard is on board to direct the first film as well as direct the first episode of the series. Goldsman will write the trilogy and Javier Bardem is attached to play the lead Roland Dechain.

Well, I wish the whole thing would be on HBO, but we will see how it turns out.

This will probably be the first Javier Bardem project that I'm interested in watching since No Country

HBO's track record for handling these projects has been superb. They too the Sookie Stackhouse books and actually made them better with True Blood and Game of Thrones was stunning. And the rest, Boardwalk Empire, Deadwood, etc have been nothing short of epic.
Now we get a very detailed piece with The Dark Tower and although I'm sure there will be some modifications to the story (no book if truly saved from this) and those die hard King suck-offs will cry a river over the changes, but I think this will be immensely more popular and commercially more successful than their previous projects.
