AMC Theatres Confirms Six-Minute "The Dark Knight Rises" Opening

AMC Theatres Confirms Six-Minute "The Dark Knight Rises" OpeningSubmit Comment
Last week we heard a rumor that Warner Bros is planning to show the first six minutes of "The Dark Knight Rises" in front of IMAX showings of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," which hits theaters on December 16th.

And today, AMC Theatres has confirmed the rumor, adding that the opening scene will be shown only on 70mm IMAX screens and not on the digital IMAX ones. Surprisingly, the website for the theater company has since taken down this confirmation, possibly at the request of the studio.

But without AMC revealing this, it's pretty obvious that Warners wants "The Dark Knight Rises" to perform as well as "The Dark Knight" did, which is why they are copying the marketing campaign used for the Batman sequel. Back in 2007, a six minute opening sequence was shown in December on IMAX screens in front of "I Am Legend."

Hopefully it will leak online so I don't have to pay $20 for it.

So people will see the opening scene, get really excited... then have to wait 6 odd months to see the entire film. It's only Batman guys just an action film about a ninja with a sore throat.

Boogiel- That's what I'm, waiting for, it'll be online the same day it's released.

Why are the digital IMAX theaters getting snubbed?
